Do you have a resonator on it? What is done for exhuast work, sorry if I missed that anywhere.

I think it sounds pretty good for a 4 cyl. Don't listen to the GTO haters, we don't have enough motor to make it RUMBLE real bad.

from the first pic it looks like the tip sticks out way far, it doesn't really as you can see in teh 2nd pic.

 

Thats different than any other tip I have seen on a Cobalt. I like it !!!

 

Just set the camera by the muffler while on record, jump in the car, then rev it up. You dont need a friend to hold the camera...but the sound quality seems like its pretty low to begin with tho.

The tip isn't quite my taste, but if you like it thats all that matters it's your car.

 

i dont really like it, but i dont like magnaflow.

 

The tip is a custom one from the Magnaflow exhaust shop here. I just have the muffler, i could not justify putting on just a big cannon average "rice" looking muffler on it for the hell of it. So i figured i would go with something different that looks good IMHO until i can save up for a full GMPP,Magnaflow,Megan,etc exhaust. I think throwing the big round cannon muffler for the hell of it goes perfect with a "ebay racing" sticker on the windshield. I think in my case i brought something different to the table. Obviously no HP gain, but looks better to me and some others! I want an exhaust that fits the car so the muffler isn't hanging looking like a hondas catback.

Muffler is magnaflow, muffler tip is custom from magnaflows shop here in town, so basically its all magnaflow.

Yea figured it was magnaflow cause it sounds alot like my car. Its a little ricey and quite loud but i love the way it sounds...Has a nice growl to it without getting raspy in the high rpms.

Tip looks badass...Good job on going with something different rather than going with what everyone else has. Did you get rid of the stock resonator? and what size piping did you get?

 

I knew the question would come! Lol. It's actually all stock except the muffler. I was shocked to hear how loud it was off just a muffler. I did not expect that much. The muffler that came stock was starting to rattle for some odd reason, so i got it replaced, but rather than replacing it w/ OEM, i got something better on there for sound and appearance purposes.. rather than performance at the moment. I am unsure about running a custom exhaust. I mean i know the magnaflow place can do it, but i am not sure what i need to do to actually make a gain in HP and sound. Maybe bigger piping? Keeping the resonator or getting rid of it? Mainly what are the pros and cons of running a custom one vs buying say a full magnaflow , GMPP, etc... Any ideas !? Thanks!

 

Sounds pretty good but I don't care too much for the tip. You should keep the muffler and just add 2.25" pipe all the way back. The resonator is up to you. I've heard it makes our cars sound raspy without it, but I know a guy around here that has 2.25" pipe with a magnaflow muffler and it sounds awesome. The piping shouldn't be expensive. I know the guy at the muffler shop around here said he'd only charge me 60 bucks to put bigger pipe on my car.

ya i had my exhaust off. i think i lost some of my hearing after taking it down the road under full throttle. soooooo raspy without my gmpp exhaust
