HPtuners on my 07
So I have an 07 2.2l and I am wanting to tune it. I have a short Ram Intake, replacing header and exhaust as we speak. the next thing on my list is a new intake manifold. I want to tune it after I do all of this. However, I have never tuned a car and had a local shop do it for me in the past. Problem now is I don't live near a shop that can do it anymore. How does HPTuners work? I know I email my setup and they send me an cable and computer program to tune it or something along those lines. But can someone clarify what they do exactly and how it works exactly?

Been outta the game for a minute so I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the 07 2.2 balts come with the better manifold aka the 2.4 intake manifold. You should do some research. There's a lot of good reading in these pages, don't be lazy.

I'm pretty sure your thinking trifecta tuning. Hptuners requires the user to do the tuning. Trifecta is mail order similar to what your talking about. I don't even know if hptuners works for 07 2.2s. I know it doesn't for 05-06
|
yeah hpt works for 07 balts. us 05-06 owners are the assholes that got the shaft.
|
Yes I got Trifecta confused with HPT I apologize. Would it just be easier for someone that hasn't tuned a car before just to take it to ZZP (a little roadtrip) rather than try to tune it myself?

depends on what you're looking for. If you're gonna become a tuner and mod til you can't mod no more then you'd best learn HPT. If you're the guy that wants a quick ride but you are not going to do the leg work then have a shop mod your car. Then either get a canned Trifecta tune or pay the credits for an HPT tune from a local tuner and you won't need to buy the software.

You got options with HPT. If you pay for the Suite with credits you can learn to tune on your own and always have access to your tunes. Or, you can buy the credits through your friend and trust your car to him. Learning to tune does not mean you'll screw your shit up. Baby steps and a lot of research wil go a long way.

Thank you I think I will go with the HPT

This should be the general case for any type of mod.

here is your solution :
buy HPT and get remote tuned by one of our well known tuners on CSS. learning to tune is not an easy task, nor do you want to F up your car attempting to do it. |

This is what i did and what most people do
OP, you can tune your car an unlimited amount of times with HPT. I am willing to help if you choose to tune it yourself. Be sure to plan on buying wideband O2 sensor. |

Not really necessary on a NA car. If everyone got tuned like that nobody would ever learn anything. And learning to tune for 2.4 throttle body and manifold isn't hard.
