Be prepared to hear the following answers with little "comparative evidence" to back up their choices.

Injen
AEM
Fujita
RAW
GMPP
K&N

Well heres my take for your 2.2

GMPP is a short ram, and has a special heat shield that surrounds the filter and only draws air in from the top of the airbox which is mounted very closely to the hood. Pass on this one.

The K&N is a short ram with a much less restrictive heatshield and has yielded very good results for all the members on here that use it. If you want a short ram, this is your best bet.

The Fujita is nice, but dosen't replace your entire intake assembly like the other cold air intakes do. So pass on this one.

AEM and Injen both make nice cold air intakes, but have slight differences. The AEM uses a dryflow filter, which dosen't require you to oil the filter. The Injen on the other hand requires you to oil the filter every now and then. More people swear by Injen than any other brand, but i'll say firsthand that my AEM has been great to me for the 2+ years its been installed. So when it comes down to AEM vs. Injen.....well, just pick one. More people, vendors included, will try to shove the Injen down your throat for whatever reason though.

Theres also a few other intakes, from the likes of Z-Spec, Ebay, etc etc, but don't waste your time on such products.

Also the Rebel Autoworks intake is nice, but being as its a 3", i'd leave that to the LE5s.

the k&n short ram makes good acceleration.. right.
now all ive done so far is the airbox mod with k&n drop in love the sound.
will the K&N intake make a sound difference and are there any proven dyno results?

I would take the Injen.

It will be my next mod, in about a month or so.

GMPP does not draw air in from the bottom of the hood, its designed to draw air in from the stock location in the wheelwell/fascia, its got a seal to help it avoid sucking in engine compartment air.

It and the other short rams are the loudest.

Fujita I believe still uses the stock intake resonator, so thats junque.

The RAW is 3" and will likely cause codes

GMPP or AEM dry

To me personally, the GMPP looks the most restrictive out of the bunch as the filter isn't fully exposed. Its probally the safest bet, but I guarantee it dosent yield the best results.

And yes, the Fujita retains the stock intake resonator....eww.

And if your like me, the sound of you intake will mean nilche if you plan on doing a full exhaust. My exhaust 110% drowns out my AEM CAI.

I'd go AEM, Injen or K&N. Like I said, depends on your preferences. Both short rams and cold air setups have their pros and cons.

just to throw my .02 in. i have the injen and are running it as short ram for the winter and i will say one thing. i can light them up a little better now, and the sounds at mid to high rev are just mind blowing. i've seen a 3mpg drop in economy since putting the intake in less than a month ago. the sound is too intoxicating, it makes me rev and i got it for a good price through cobalt-addiction.com

The K&N is the only intake that is SAI friendly.

If you can manage to keep out of the pedal, you milage will go up, maybe 1 MPG.

There really is no "best" intake, its just what they look like and what kind of filters they have.

Go with AEM COLD AIR INTAKE! I should know, I have it in my car right now. The thing sounds great, looks good under the hood, provides great upper RPM response. Sits behind the headlight nicely mounted onto the manifold nicely as well. Good assembly of product, I have had the thing for about 5 months now, and have had nothing but fun with the thing. Everytime I hit it, you can just hear the thing, sounds like a beast on wheels.

VERY bad information here....The GMPP draws air in from under the box, just like the factory box does. It is open on the top primarily for appearance but gets most of its' air from the bottom!! It works nicely on the 2.2 but not very good for the 2.4 -- not the best for maximum performance.

K&N has a claim in their instructions: if you dyno test their intake (with a base dyno of your original intake) within 60 days of purchase and it doesn't provide an increase in HP they will give you your money back! K&N also provides their dyno charts -- go to their website.

K&N works well on my 2.4 and it is LOUD!

I was refering to SAI (seconday Air Injection) not AIR... The K&N is the only intake to offer a dedicated spot to connect the SAI hose to, otherwise you can put a filter on it, let it just hang there or yank it outa there...
