Picked up this bates hardened oil pump gear for $75. Don't know if it is a good deal or not.

Heat soaked pull on a hot day. Car is pulling about 4 degrees more ignition timing than it should and making it run rich. Threw off timing a bit trying to adjust for tip in knock in the tune.

That's a lot of fuel and load your throwing at those new rings... What do your plugs look like?

Haven't pulled them. Going to autocross tomorrow so they better be ready for some high rpm acceleration/deceleration. I'm not scared. If it blows I will rebuild it.

It's not a garage queen. I've put 1,000 miles on it and modern cylinder finishes don't take that long to break in. It'll be fine. You'll get over treating your Cobalt like a fine jewel at some point I assume. Mine definitely isn't. It's made for doing work.

Tuner is fighting flood so had to make due with tune low on ignition timing and running rich. It was running richer than the tune actually would in straight line pulls I think because of the way I was modulating the throttle the intake became "saturated" with water/meth. Anyway it ran pretty well except for those things.

Tune has been adjusted and she is now pulling strong with AFR around 11.8-12 in upper rpms. I went out and did these pulls like HGT suggested that I should break it in proper.

I agree with you there definitely did seem like a little slip. It's only the KY stage 1 which is rated at 300 ft-lbs. Just needs to last me through the summer but I won't intentionally try to wear it out. Trans is coming off for an LSD this winter anyway so not a big deal if I need to replace it at that time.

Guy was parting out a built L61 from a Cavalier. He paid bottom dollar for the Cavi so was flexible with pricing to say the least. Was selling it as an oil pump gear for L61 which I am sure made a lot of people not take a second look knowing that the 2.0,2.2 and 2.4 all have the same gears. So I told him what I could give him for it if he couldn't get rid of it and he ended up selling it to me a day later. I also bought a Cavi freshly rebuilt F23 transmission with a Quaife LSD in it for $550 from him. Supposedly only has 800 miles on it. New Quaifes go for $1,100.

Just filled the gas tank (+82lbs), full interior, and the spare tire stuff - 2,840 lbs. Don't have all that fancy stuff like ABS, and electric windows weighing me down lol.

You just talking about the weight of combined induction systems and components required to make it work or what else have you added to weigh it down?

Lol it's a guy who owns a dealership I am pretty sure. He says he does it to demonstrate that you can autocross in anything, you don't need a special car. To make a point to newbies that can shy away because they feel their car isn't adequate to not be afraid to just give it your best with what they have.

Rig I threw together to try and lower my IAT temps. So far when everything is heat soaked and cruising my IAT1 temp is 5-7 degrees above ambient and IAT2 temp is about exactly 30 degrees above ambient. I idled around town and stuff for a while to get everything nice and hot before I went out for t a drive. Ambient temp is 77 degrees IAT1 was 82-84 and IAT2 was 105 at cruise.

Tune is nearly dialed in this video but we have came a couple steps since this was made. Previously my tuner didn't have certain tables figured out that give him more control over ignition timing and AFR. When it got hot out the ECU would pull timing and make the AFR very rich right around 10. Now that he deciphered those tables I have consistent AFR even when it gets hot out. Right now we have it set at 12 and we'll probably see how it runs in the cold weather before leaning it out to 12.5 since I am on water/methanol injection. Yesterday I did a datalog with the latest calibration and it held 12 and was still running 23 degrees ignition advance and it was 102 out. Needless to say I am pretty stoked because this is the most dialed my tune has ever been and we didn't have to do anything "hacky" to make it run correctly.

Autocross from this weekend in Heartland Park Topeka. As far as the Engine goes the car ran better than it ever has.

OctoberFast autocross from this weekend in Salina Kansas. For the first run you see in the video some course worker did not understand that the slalom entries were optional for which ever side you wanted to take and called me in as a DNF. I heard them announce this as I finished my run and I was like WTF where in the hell did I DNF and unfortunately this got in my head and screwed me up for the rest of the day. You can see the second run in the video I was driving a little heated upset about being DNF'd on a clean run. They must have caught this in the audit of times as I am sure he wrongly DNF'd many other cars as well. My time from the DNF run was posted as my official best time which indicates they determined I actually did not DNF.
