Lol, I had no idea they were so damn light. Trying a door next?

I'm concerned about the structural integrity if I did that. The b pillar and interior sheet metal seems very structural. I'll stick to body panels for now

Today was the heater box which required the dash support be removed.

Finally got the dash beam out. It was 30lbs with all bolts. The hvac box weighed roughly 25lbs. And for the hell of it I'm prepping one fender to hack job carbon it too. I may as well since it's off.

the carbon insert weighs 1lb exactly before trimming. I'm going to start just putting this stuff on youtube so it's archived better...

With the seats, belts, airbags(except driver), dash beam, heater box, roof, and misc interior I've abandoned 155lbs. If I put on my ED carbon trunk I'd be at 185lbs, but I want to make a non removable trunk and a pin on hood that should be super light. The trunk should weigh like 2-3lbs hopefully and the hood I have no idea. Under 10lbs though... That would be another what? Like 70-80lbs? Then the rear quarters and maybe even the rear deck will be replaced with carbon.

My goal is 400-500lbs. Gonna maybe replace the passenger door with a molded shell of the door with some plexi to see out of. A door you can't open, and no door panel or anything. That should shed some serious weight. I never plan on having passengers in this car so why not.

We also have some UV protected Plexi at work I'm tempted to replace the tiny little back windows with.

If you could get a rear windshield out of plexi that would save a significant amount of weight

It's tempting to replace that with carbon too. Just cut out a little window to see directly behind me and that's it. Or put a backup camera in its place.

replace it part with carbon part with plexi, the carbon will give you the ability to integrate the plexi without the bend issues
