engine sputter
ive had problems awhile back with my engine sputtering especially over bumps and backfiring. i originally thought it was because my o2 sensor wire was sheared off and arching on my exhaust pipe. i believed this was the problem because the fuse would blow out. now i have the o2 sensor changed with no bare wire. all of the fuses are good and im still having a problem with the engine sputtering especially over bumps. quite often after it sputters my tach drops to zero and stays there. once it does this i have no problems at all but with a dramatic drop in performance. the sputtering as i call it almost feels like when someone is first learning stick shift and they are bouncing around like a bucking bull. the car is a 2.2l manual transmission. i have short ram air intake. zzp catless pipe and tsudo exhaust. please any help would be appreciated.

I checked the wires connected to the ECM but they seem fine. Changed the plugs today still have the same problem. Did a little research today and thinking it might the tps or egr valve. I am throwing a code for a thermostat. But I don't think that would give me the problem I've got

actually... thermostat could be... also maybe your temp sensor... i had to replace my temp sensor yesterday and my engine was kind of doing the same thing... temp sensor is like 12 bucks and a quick fix with a 19mm wrench.

Ok after resetting the battery yesterday I waited till it threw a code. Took it to autozone and read it was a bad crankshaft position sensor. Now in the past 6 months of having this problem I have had the code read multiple problems and fixed them then new codes pop up. This is the only code there is now. No more thermostat code or oxygen sensor codes.
