L61/LAP Turbo/Super (Forced Induction) Build Thread
 

I found a few build links that we've accumulated over the past few years. There are many more people who installed forced industion systems than what I have listed, these are what I remember and threads that have some useful info. I choose not to mention the threads with no info. While I do have build links posted, please CHECK the threads these members have made as well, lots of good info. This is and will always be a work in progress! If I missed you or you see something that should be posted in here lemme know!

I believe this is NOT a cobalt specific kit, you may need to do some fabrication and make some decisions.

Who actually makes these products for us?

There are a few choices for turbocharger's for us..

The majority, if not all supercharged builds are using Eaton M62 roots type superchargers.

Tuning:
Your car will blow up if you can not adjust for a forced induction system. Maybe not...but I would count on this as much of a certainty as paying taxes and dying.

Trifecta is a remote tuning option for the 2.2L's. Supported vehicles: 2005-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt 2.2L

Many of the 2.2L cobalts have been tuned by Trifecta tuning. You can read about specifically how people has implemented this tune in the many build logs above. Jlong does NOT have a cobalt with a F/I system installed but he wrote up a great review on his experience:

While it is convenient to to do this remotely there have been cases where it has taken a week or more to fully dial-in a tune, keep this in mind.

LS2 Edit software works for certain models - 07 L61, 08 L61, 09 LAP

I have not yet seen any reviews on an LS2Edit tune, if you are tuned please post up your experience here!

There are other options that people used to use but I'm not going to look for them. If you wanna post them, do it up and I'll add.

I got some books.. Street turbocharging Design, Fabrication, installation, and tuning of High-performance Turbocharger Systems by Mark Warner - Recommended to me by the one and only NJHK!

I also bought Turbocharging Performance handbook (Motorbooks Workshop) by Jeff Hartman, good read. Had to read it... a few times :)

has anyone used the sc kit from zzp?

I haven't seen any build thread/logs of that kit yet. It's possible that some 2.2L's have ZZPs SC kit since it does display as out of stock :)

Bump TTT. I added a little bit on the tune options and a little more on the kits. If you have been tuned by Trifecta for F/I on your 2.2L, could you do a write up on the process you went through? Thoughts, feelings, amount of time it took, communication with Trifecta etc. If you have a F/I 2.2L LS2edit tuned cobalt please post up your experience!! Maybe when I'm done with school I'll go into some show and tell in terms of picture/parts and cooling solutions. The epic-ness must continue :)

I have a ZZP SC kit on the way for my 05 2.2L base model. Ordered it today. Was going to get the upgraded injectors but im worried about my internals so I went with the base stage 1 kit and I will also be putting on a stock lsj header and dp.

Awesome! Please create a build-log thread so people can see what ZZP has to offer! (or doesn't - hopefully not)

Will do! Yeah hopefully it was worth the money. Since it was like majority of my bank account haha.

bigger injectors dont give more power, they allow more power. thats a pretty key difference. Its a supporting mod only
