My 2.2 Build Thread

For those who don't know, about eight months ago we blew our motor. Blown Piston, it put a hole right thru the piston.

Now for the Build and the parts:

Dartons Sleeves
Neutral Balance Shafts
Bates Hardened Oil Pump Gears
Wiseco 10:1 Pistons .20 Overbore
Eagle Rods
New Timing Chain (Kit)
ARP Head Studs
New Gaskets
ZZP Longtube header
MPX 3 inch exhaust
Exedy Stage 2 Clutch
New Bearings
Ported Head
Supertech Valves, Retainers, Springs, and seats

this is how it sits now.

I have received most of the parts already here are some pix.

8 months, huh? i feel you. my cobalt was down about 7 months and then a month after the new build the trans went. good to see you're going sleeved. in some ways i wish i had but i'm not looking for 400+hp or big boost numbers either. what are your goals now?

What is the highest hp mp62 eco at the moment? I'm shooting for north of 300 by the end of the summer, should be do able.

Just looked, its turbo tim at 401 hp. Thats just not fare, pretty sure that was a shop car. I'll have to check. After that its 303 hp, which is a joke and they even used e-85, should be doable on 93.

ZZP guys only care about the big money jobs I mean I'm working an a N/A build I was getting parts from them regularly and it got to the point where they sold me a used/wrong part and still charged me a restocking fee and when I emailed them for a reason they said next time read and verify before ordering so I showed them emails and screen shots of the parts and can you believe they changed the Linked page then told me to look again and read carefully I told them I sent screen shots proving it was before they changed their page and they said "too bad restocking fee is our policy" and insulted me once again saying if I was gonna be trouble then I should find another shop...So I did, much better than ZZPiece of shout. I still have the screen shots, they were for the LS4 Throttlebody and plate/hardware...Don't do business with them long term if you do it better be big bucks they're hard to reach over the phone (try it) and emails about once a week if that. they're to busy with their builds bottom line.

Funny thing about that thread, in the picture in the op he has a tvs on the car. AND thats a shop build car, he didnt do that himself. The highest hp eco no shop built mp62 car I can find is at 303.

The fins and inlet dont look exactly right, but no one challenged him in the thread. Almost scares me because my build plan is similar to that (minus the E) and that would be maxing out the bottom end I plan on running (stock 05-06 LE5). I shouldnt make ti though since I wont be spinning to 9500 thats for sure.

i was going to do the bottom end of my motor cuz i blew the piston and all. but soon the beast will be allive.

700 or 750 i think. on ebay. but its like a bundle they do. you can talk to them to lower the price also. if you don't go thru ebay cuz the processing fees and etc.

here is the link...
Wiseco Pistons Eagle Rods Chevy Cobalt Ecotec 2.2L L61 - eBay (item 270620000869 end time Feb-05-11 13:08:53 PST)

not bad at all.. the only killer would be the labor fee to actually have these installed...
