NewB here

Hey guys I'm new to the site and wanted to say Hi. I'm looking to do a few mods to my car to make it a little quicker which are the best bang for the buck mods for the 2.2 ecotech? I'm not looking at anything major like a turbo or S/C I have a 500 HP Camaro SS sitting in the garage next to my new Cobalt so the wife will kill me if I try spending a ton of cash on another car. Any ideas would be great thanks Scrappy

Welcome to the zoo. Just basic bolt ons and tunes! 2.4L intake manifold from Crate Engine Depot, then CAI, header, DP, exhaust, then make it looks super sexy by lowering it, getting some rims, and some halo projectors. You'll be lookin' good in the neighborhood then.

We hear this exact same question all the time. I say do the basics, intake/header/downpipe/exhaust and leave it at that. GM Performance Parts (you can get them cheaper than GM offers at www.crateenginedepot.com) makes most of these and you can use a downpipe from an SS Supercharged.

After that, there is N20, and then weight reduction (though it's easiest to remove weight from the interior, which negatively affects the handling/braking balance and your wife probably won't like losing a rear seat and sound insulation). New performance tyres also make a difference.

That's really about all you can do without getting into some serios mods.

welcome.. lowering springs, rims/wheels, intake, exhaust, header, downpipe.. basically what everyone else says.. there are numerous threads about available parts including the stickies at the top of the 2.2L performance section that tell you what parts from the LSJ can fit on the L61, and also all of the the aftermarket stuff in anther. welcome.

Welcome. If you have 5speed a short throw shifter (you can use one for a 00-05 Cavalier, $40 shipped on ebay) If you have auto B&M shift-plus. Plus the other parts listed.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I have used search but it's hard to figure out some of the terms such as CEl (Check engine light) is the same as SES (service engine light) in my other car so it's a little slow for me to read posts but I am figuring it out. Maybe in a week or so I will be able to read everything and understand it.
