normal running temperature

what is the normal running temp for a 2.2l cobalt?? My cousin's cobalt shows 201 when cruising around town during the day, shows around 192 when on the freeway and gets as high as 223 when sitting in daytime traffic...He just replaced thermostat and he is concerned about whether or not these are normal operating tempertures..Please post your average operating temps that you see, thanx

Normal is 185 to 220.

I believe the fan kicks on around 235, overheating should be at about 250.

Its a shame you replaced the thermostat. There was nothing wrong with it. The temp is always highest sitting still at idle, as high as 230 degrees. Thats perfectly normal.

No need to but you should let it run a couple mins before hitting the road only when you first start up the car for that day after its been sitting all night
