Are gopros allowed while you are racing? I would really like to see some footage of this thing in action and hear that baby breath and wind out.

They are. Just haven't been at the forefront of my to do list this season. I did get some footage from our test on Friday. Not great laps, but laps none the less. I'll try and post something soon.

I know you have done the brembo swap and I am thinking if/when I do disc brake swap I may as well go all in the first time. I was wondering if you had trouble with wheels clearing the brembos? I take it the 15" steelies probably won't work with the brembos and also wondering about my other aluminum wheels. Iiir the LSJ braks DO clear the steelies correct? Also do you have it posted up like on your website or somewhere a list of parts required for brembo swap on 4-lug? I want to stay 4-lug if I can.

lsj brakes work with 15s, might have to clearance the caliper depending on the wheel

Brembos require a 17+ and low offset/spoke design for clearance

https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Whee...autoModClar=LS These 17X8 wheels with 40mm offset. Think they would work?

offset is probably much too high but its impossible to tell without test fitting.

So what was the cause with the oil seal blowing out the front cover?

Sorry I haven't had a chance to check in. Real life is kicking my ass atm. About to change jobs and move 6 hours north next week, and still trying to get ready for Super Lap.

So the 15's I had wouldn't clear the LSJ calipers. My current front wheels are 17x8 +45 with a 10mm spacer. The wheels were a ridiculous price for Team Dynamics wheels when I bought them 2 years ago, and have held up really well. Those TR's don't look bad. But hell, we are thinking about running 17x9's up front and 17x8's in the back and going staggered setup instead of square next year. Maybe.

As for the oil seal, I know we need to add an oil cooler to the car this winter. we are seeing oil temps well above 250*F. When Trevor and I talked about it after the race, this was his take on it: "The way the ecotec oil pump and front main seal is kinda unique to its own. I honestly don't know any other engine that relies on the front main seal to also Aid in sealing the oil pump normally they are further inside the motor. But then again most other engines have an oil cooler of some kind."

Also, Im not sure of anyone beating on one of these motors the way we are for as long as we are at a time.

Oil cooler is on the winters list of mods we need to do for 2018.

Here is some onboard from our Fontana lap:

So, it was a really rough end of 2017. Add to that I changed jobs and moved and I've been MIA.

Car is currently gutted as its getting a custom built roll cage, Trevor has the motor for more mad science stuff.

The final cause of the oil leaks came out at Super Lap (after i broke a spindle and wrecked) We had cracked the hub on the ATI damper.

My hub cracked too. I thought it was my main seal, but it think it is just oil creeping through the crack. No drips but oil on the timing cover and oil pan.

i read something at one point that your actually supposed to have the ati dampers machined to fit your crank exactly and that the press fit is too much. if thats the case and it wasnt done, that could explain the cracking

Yeah, they don't say this when you buy them, but yes this is what you have to do.

So for some reason I was always under the impression that your new setup with the arias pistons was 13:1, but from the thread, it looks like you say 12:1 multiple times.

Slow progress. Between the hours at work and health issues for my gf things have been slow. We will be missing the opening GTA round this year. Hoping to finish painting the cage this weekend, and start working on getting the dash in roll bar padding, etc. so the car can go to trevor for driveline and suspension work.

Closer. Oil cooler got added after this photo last night, just a few things left to make her sing.

Green are turn signals, Red is lap timer button (AEM dash) and theres a PTT switch on the back.
