does the ls coupe have rotors? or are the drums like every other car that i like :(

drums, althoug i believe that discs are a (rather expensive) option.

They come standard on the SS ;)

4 wheel discs are standard and only available on the SS/sc Coupe.

any other car can be upgraded to them by purchasing the needed parts.(hubs, rotors, calipers, clapier mounts, and ABS module(you may be able to get by with just an ABS reprog but i think you need a whole new module) if you dont have ABS you will also need to plumb in a proportioning valve.

the 2006 cobalt ss line up will all have 4wdb. (sssc, 2.4l coupe & sedan)

I was iffy on the LS having rear drum brakes, but once I took a look at it with the 16" rims I realised it didn't look that bad at all. I've considered upgrading the rear brakes to disc brakes but in the long run the investment doesn't seem worth it to me, not to mention the number of modifications I might have to make to fit the front-disc brake kit on the rear (not putting a read kit on the rear or the discs are typically different sizes).

Lack of rear discs are one of the few criticisms I have of the Cobalt. GM will tell you it was a cost-saving measure, but when I see cheapos like the Kia Spectra coming with them, I have to wonder. It's certainly not the worst thing in the world as even with rear drums, the car has very good stopping power with much better pedal feel and modulation than my ex-gf's Civic and current gf's Jetta. Imagine just how much better it could be if the base and LS models had rear discs, though.

my cav had rear drums too so its not just the cobalts

exactly,.......it has enough stopping power and its not necessary to have rear discs..........we would save a will lot with drum brakes since we dont have to replace pads as often

Drum brakes are less expensive, last longer, and require less maintenance(typically)

And as a side note, when the NEON ACR(autocross ready) model came out Dodge put drums on it instead of the standard discs as found on the topline NEON.....btw...NEON's dominated Showroom Stock for many years.
