finally

if you didnt read my last post then here it is this process was easier for me,so if u work at a dealer you can follow this word for word. if your vehicle has SAI then the rpo code is
NU3-emissions system california, connect the tech2 w/the candi module to your delta using the sps system request info from your vehicle, verify the vin matches and then connect to your dealerworld sps site. go through the procedure like normal,at the end you will be askedfor your tire size, transmission type, and emissions rpo.choose the rpo that is not NU3 then you will be able to eliminate the SAI pump and hardware. if u just get rid of the system you will need a plate to cover the diverter inlet on topof the manifold

Wait??? Is this legit? Are you telling me that the dealer can eliminate SAI? Will the car still pass emissions testing?

Only one way to find out if its legit. It sounds somewhat reasonable, but is the dealer really able to change your emissions settings? If so this sounds promising.

That looks like a real solution. And as long as you are not in California, that should be a completely legal solution.

it should pass an emissions test the pump only runs @ startup, then it has zero functionality as far as whats coming out of your tail pipe

it still flows air into the ehxaust fter startup...lowering ALL PPM statistics

The Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System aids in the reduction of hydrocarbon exhaust emissions during a cold start-up. This occurs when the start-up engine coolant temperature (ECT) is between 5-50°C (41-122°F), and the intake air temperature (IAT) is between 5-60°C (41-140°F). The AIR pump operates 5-60 seconds after start-up.

The control module activates the AIR system by simultaneously supplying grounds to the AIR pump and the AIR valve relays. This action closes the relays' internal contacts. The AIR pump and the AIR control solenoid valve/pressure sensor assembly are in turn energized, the pump runs and the control/shut-off valve opens.

The AIR pump sends pressurized fresh air into the pipes/hoses through the open control/shut-off valve, and into the exhaust manifold. The extra air accelerates the catalyst operation, helping it to reach operating temperature faster. The AIR pump remains ON for a short period of time after the control/shut-off valve is commanded OFF. When the AIR pump is commanded OFF it will not run or be activated until the next vehicle start. When the AIR system is inactive, the closed AIR control/shut-off valve prevents air/exhaust flow in either direction.

this is a few paragraphs explaining how wrong that last guy is

you can hear it turn on and off on a cold start. if you warm your car up, shut it off, and re-start, the sai does not come on. and the extra air makes my exhaust sound like complete ass when it starts up cold.

so is it comfirmed that you can effectively delete the SAI on SAI equipped cars with a reflash using the non SAI flash?

I spoke with mrgoodwrench about this. He has done it for over 2000 miles on his manual. he needed to do some research on the auto and has determined it can be done as well. The only issue is getting a dealer to do it for you. Being that I am close to him, I might make the journey up there for this, but if you work at a dealership or have a really good one that you have connections in, they might do it for you

I actually had a direct conversation with Tom at Crate Engine Depot and one of the techs that expects to come to the meet on July 7th. We plan on having a Tech 2 connected to GM Dealer World at the meet to see what exactly we can accomplish. I plan on reporting on it afterwards. Things we plan to check are:

SAI switchability
Tire size / speedo calibration adjustability
Gauge cluster swapping ability
speed limiter changes

There was one concern that the technician had concerning all of these issues. The VIN numbers. Since the VIN is stored in the ECM, GM Dealer World may not allow the ECM program to be changed because the changes asked for don't match the file information for that VIN. We'll see what happens.

Wow, you're awesome man. Reps. I get the feeling that this is going to work out however as you said it may not be "legit."

Edit: "You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Halfcent again." LOL

wow, I just started reading about all this sai junk because it came up in a lot of threads and i had no idea wtf it was. I have an 07 and just ran out to check based from the pics at the start of the thread and I don't have it Sounds like a big pita for those who do. I live in florida though so I guess it doesn't matter too much because I could get rid of it with no problems since there are no emissions here.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think someone said its a Cali emissions thing. My friend has an 06 2.2 and it doesn't have it either.
