Which spark plug?

Okay, after reading thru previous thread in the 2.4L section about bosch plugs, Ive decided to change mind. Only problem is I don't know if I should get the platinum +4s or the fusions.

What do you guys recommend?

Blackout06LS Jun 27, 2008 10:23 PM

How many miles you got?

If you are bone stock go with OEM stock plugs.

EdCobaltSS Jun 27, 2008 10:27 PM

DO NOT EVER BUY Platinum plus anythings. they WILL fuck every thing over on you car. missfires like crazy with those things. I only run NGK's i personally have had 6 sets of bosch plugs, and none of them worked properly.

silver187666 Jun 27, 2008 10:58 PM

more then one barbed spark plug is a scam, once you ignite the gas it will go off, ive put e3.45s in a ford and alls it did was mess it up , then i put in some cheap auto lite plugs and it ran better then ever

NS06G5 Jun 27, 2008 11:03 PM

our 2.2 come stock with iridium's(sp?) not plats. Make sure you get a plug that is atleast up to stock standards. I have no faith in champions, but have had good luck with NGK's, and Bosch.

an0malous Jun 27, 2008 11:05 PM

just stick with NGK or another high quality (non-gimmick) plug.
avoid anything that promises "new technology" or "increased blah blah blah"

tonio5555 Jun 28, 2008 01:52 AM

Platinum +4's fried Hackabuse's coilpack... be wary.

yellowltcoupe22 Jun 28, 2008 02:58 AM

bosch plugs and wires are shit.... i put both on my 98 s-10 4.3l and it ran like shit till i changed em out for autolite plugs.. get some NGK's. thats what im runnin in my balt now and it runs great..

SlowBalt_06 Jun 28, 2008 02:59 AM

ngk coppers!!!!!

ls1fbody Jun 28, 2008 03:02 AM

electrcity follows the path of least resistance, just like water. multiple "tips" are not going to do you any good.

yellowltcoupe22 Jun 28, 2008 03:09 AM

coppers are great but wear out faster than platnum and iridium. but if you're gonna be willin to change out your plugs more often then copper is the way to go.

SlowBalt_06 Jun 28, 2008 03:14 AM

yea i changing them every 10-15 k is always good

FASTL61 Jun 28, 2008 03:24 AM

BOSCH = SUX BIG SLOPPY ASS!!!!
I HATE THOSE PLUGS.THEY SUCKED BALLS IN EVERY CAR I TRIED THEM IN.WORTHLESS EXPENSIVE PEICES OF GARBAGE!!!:cussing:

xpod666 Jun 28, 2008 07:19 AM

bosch +4 fried my coilpack and bosch was forced to pay my all the damages :nono:

Alright, Im convinced. No bosch. So which NGK plug should I get. I have a k&n sri, catback and soon to get header & dp with hi-flow cat and maybe even try the jet module

I went onto NGK's website and they gave me this part #: ILTR5C11. Autozone nor Advance auto doesnt carry this brand. At least locally. So I went to autopartswarehouse.com and showed me 2 ngk plugs for 06 2.2L balt. Neither part number matched the one I got from ngk web site.

NGK website: ILTR5C11

Autopartswarehouse: LTR5GP & LTR5IX-11

Any ideas?

Blackout06LS Jun 28, 2008 12:44 PM

NGK! NGK! NGK!

I have heard good things about Bosch, but I have been running NGKs in all of my vehicles since they all come stock with them.

409Cobalt07 Jun 28, 2008 08:59 PM

the only thing i ever put in a engine is NGK's or OEM plugs

Chuck Jun 28, 2008 09:14 PM

NGK iridium is the only plug to run

NS06G5 Jun 28, 2008 10:37 PM

Sounds like that was a NGK stock #, that they only use. I know for some of these newer bikes I've worked on, we get conversion charts for plugs(ex. NGK plug # xyz is the same as NGK plug # abc, same exact thing, but just different # systems).

yellowltcoupe22 Jun 29, 2008 12:53 AM

if im not mistaken autopartswarehouse.com is a fuckin joke.. dont buy from them. go to sparkplugs.com and look up what you want.. they'll have the plugs at your front door in less than a week..

burzumaske20 Jul 11, 2008 02:51 PM

I use bosch platinum 2 plugs and they run great,I have been using the same plugs for almost a year now

ScottxKillyou Jul 11, 2008 04:27 PM

OEM plug on the car is going to be an AC Delco iridium. I would either stick with that or the NGK. I know Denso work well in import tuners, but haven't heard anything about them on the cobalt.

massivematt Jul 11, 2008 04:36 PM

all them 600hp+ european cars run bosch plugs. They work excellent. Definitly go with the platinum+4.

drivernoverdrive Jul 11, 2008 09:12 PM

plugs

I'm running Pulse Plugs...hellava lot better than the Arco's that I had in it...if you want more information, visit pulstarplugs.com - the plugs are a bit pricy($25/plug-i.e 4cyl motor=$100), but I'm gettin more power out of my car and better fuel economy (I know because I have a GTECH performance gauge and instant gas mileage read out) - plus the pulse plugs will be able to withstand a little more abuse.....I'm talkin heavier spark when your runnin at the redline...believe me when I say they work:twothumbs

I think chevy changed the coil on the 07s for a reason. Every 05, 06 balt owner has told me to stay away from platinums because they run hotter and burn up the coil. yet the guys with 07s say they run great and each plug has a coil on the 07 2.2Ls

I just got NGK Iridium IX from autopartswarehouse.com. To the guy that said they're a joke. I dont know what issue you may have had with them, but everything has been smooth with me. Ive been buying parts from them for about 3 yrs now. Never had an issue.
