Starting my Car Issues

Well I recently pulled my motor out and fixed a few things with my turbo set up, put motor back in and go to start it, no key in the car I push the clutch in and it tries to turn over, disconnected the bat changed wires around on starter and next thing u know wires get hot, disconnected everything again, test starter, starter won't engage, bought a new starter looked at my friends 2.2 cobalt everything hooked up the same just my car won't start.
My buddy had told me it might of went to security mode and told me how to get it out, but that dash light isn't on, my dash lights up normal and all interior works fine.
Need some serious help
Thanks everyone

I did repaint the engine, and I noticed there's 2 gounds that bolt to the block, I don't think I sanded the paint off, other then that the only other ground is the one that runs from the starter to the frame rail

Still having the same issue, I found I had a blown fuse cause the car wasn't turning over, I replaced the fuse and bang as soon as I pressed the clutch in the car would turn over but not start, if the key is in the start possition the car will not turn over.
I need help,

Correct, its werid as ****! I pulled the battery out of it cause I'm worried someone will try something.
Worse thing is I have done this to my car like 5 times now where I pulled the motor out, and never had an issue, now I have this issue, my buddy had an issue where he would put the power wire on his bat, and it would start to turn over with out a key and he has a 2.0 SC

I took the ground off the valve cover sanded it down, and I took the ground off the block by the AC and sanded it, tomorrow we are removing the starter and doing the ground on the block above the starter too and see if that does anything. I have a feeling it might be a plug on the tranny

starter cables shorting out I would hazard a guess. there is no doubt, you made some sort of installation wiring error, trace your steps. bad grounds are ....bad.

So if I pull that fuse, my car will start by pushing the clutch? Kinda fun!
