Does anyone have any info/opinions on when or if a product like this will come on the market?

Oh I have something to add to this too. First of all I am asking about cobalt 2.2L autos specifically, not just one in general if that makes sense.

Also Does anyone know of those trans coolers u can buy from Canadian Tire would actually work for us?

Its like a mini rad that ties to your existing rad and has hoses on the top and bottom. Anyone tried this on a cobalt yet? or just another rip off and not worth it?

Unless you have some serious mods done to the car (Motor Work, Boost, etc.) I don't believe a tranny cooler would be necessary. I know there was an AutoTrans Interceptor available for the 4T40E Trannys that were in J-bodies, but I don't believe there is one released for the 45 yet.

Correct.

And to add to that, Auto Trans is out of business, so good luck finding one but they'll all be used (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

As far as a transmission cooler, you might not need one right now but I don't see where it could hurt. This might give you more insight on transmission coolers:

But if you are still interested in finding one...check out the JBO forums, there is typically atleast 1 for sale. Good luck.

Thanks.

I plan on buying some actual books and brushing up on some stuff that I find still a bit confussing or just not fully sure of. Hopefully soon, I'll have a much better understanding of things.

Well, I'm not 100% sure of this but if what you are saying is true, adding additional power to extreme levels, that cooler isn't going to be able to keep up with the excessive heat.
The more power you create, the hotter the auto transmission gets from working so hard to transfer power.

You can add and external cooler, but our balts have some weird fittings to the rad. If you want to install it Trans - Rad - Cooler and back to trans the best way is just buy a lower Trans cooler line and chop it up for the connectors. I had a look at it a couple months back and figured it wasnt worth it.

true but i mean as far as ive seen, the auto balts that ive seen dont need anyhting more than that trans cooler, you probably wont get much of a diff, unless u got a trans intercept to monitor numbers

An Auto Trans Interceptor won't be able to monitor anything.

It's not a chip.

To answer all your questions, read this FAQ and How To. It has pictures as well:
