It depends.

If you plan on keeping the stock internals, Supercharged is cheaper for the power you're gonna have to stay in.

If you plan on building up the L61, then turbo.

Dude on a 2.2 a supercharger kit would be perfect, unless ur building the motor.

garrett discontinued the kit for the cobalts and they only worked for the manual transmissions only, reason being the SCT tuner was for a manual, and im not sure about the IC piping seeing how a auto trans is bigger. however you can possibly still get a garrett manifold from a guy i know, got to the classified and look for a turbo with a t25/t28 flange, go on ebay get a universal intercooler piping kit and intercooler and go with trifecta for a tune. but as mentioned before if you do plan on going high horsepower you might want to build up the internals. personally im a turbo man, but if you go supercharged i would suggest you aim for a TVS, that would be some cool ****

Supercharger will be putting down more than 200whp if you go with ZZP. They tested their kit on a 2.4L auto and it put down 225whp. A 2.2L achieves 1 more pound of boost than the 2.4 but I doubt that makes a huge difference. If you have an exhaust and the ZZP SC kit and any other supporting mods I'm guessing you will be anywhere from 220-230whp.

Another thing. Turbo kits wont put out much more power when first installed. Depending on the kit you get and your supporting mods. Turbo/Supercharger Kits for the 2.2L have about the same power unless you get the upgraded kits or have more supporting mods. Turbo's are just easier for future mods and have alot of potential, where as a supercharger its pretty much a direct bolt on. Bad thing is lowering pulley sizes is about if for upgrading your supercharger and of course other bolt ons.

So I was looking a little more and since I don't care so much to do the internal stuff. A supercharged kit would be better? If I get the ZZP SC kit and a ZZP header and dp with a custom exhaust be a good way to go? I know a tune is also in order and I plan on getting a Trifecta tune so would I get that as soon as everything gets installed? Oh and an intercooler... would I have to buy that separately too?

I'm sure I don't sound too bright but oh well. That comes with not knowing so much.

The ZZP SC kit comes with an intercooler. ZZP headers and down pipe would make a huge difference and give you great flow and an exhaust is very helpful so that is pretty much a must have. You wont need any huge exhausts though. 2.25 or 2.5inch would be good. 3inch would be good to but its kind of an overkill unless you are planning on working on internals and getting in the higher power range. Also if you wanted to save a few dollars you could get stock LSJ headers and down pipe which wont have as good as flow as ZZP but will still get the job done.

As far as tuning. Trifecta is the only one who can tune you that I am aware of. You will want to either have a local trifecta dealer, or you can order tuning software from their website. You will want to have the tune set up and ready to be uploaded they day you install your kit.

Thanks. I was thinking just to go all ZZP as I'm OCD and to have all the same brand makes sense. If I can I would like to get the exhaust and headers first and then save up a little bit to get the kit. So when I get the kit I should call Trifecta at the same time because I'm probably going to buy it online. I was thinking about getting one of those cables that way if I do plan on doing something else I can just order it and get a new tune right away. Do I tell them what I'm doing and they just send me a new file to upload or how does that work?

Whenever you call Clear Image to order the trifecta tune, you will give them your VIN number and all the powertrain mods that you have and/or installing. You can give them the specs of the supercharger kit and your other components and they'll do up an initial tune.

You will plug the tuner into your car and upload the new tune after you install the new mods. Once the tune is flashed, you'll run the car and send the data log to Vince where he'll make adjustments to the tune. You'll continue to repeat this until the car is dialed in.

I'd go supercharged, I'd rather have bottom end torque.

Ok cool. Now just to make sure again. Will the SC kit work with an Automatic?

Yes. If you want a more responsive feel out of the 4T45e trans, get a B&M Shift Plus.

So where can I get one of those and how efficient is it?

You don't need the B&M Shift Plus...with Trifecta, he can tune your TCM so that your tranny shifts firmer and do anything you'd like with it. The B&M isn't worth it for the most part...if you're going to get a tune at all (for whatever mods you do) you're better off to get the tranny tuned via the TCM.

Also, being auto, you may want to get a tranny cooler when you get your car supercharged.

I'm planning to do that before I even get the supercharger setup from ZZP.

Well since I haven't heard about that one yet. Is that really worth it and how does it work? looking it up seems expensive.

No but I do want to look into everything to make sure I don't mess up. Buying things I don't need or the wrong parts would be a costly mistake.
