Using an 04 cavalier engine to build for my 06 l61

Is it possible to use the 04 cavalier engine in a 06 cobalt 2.2 l61

I would guess it's tha same block, heads might be different.

Only real difference would be early ecotec's had egr. Other than that 02/03-06 are the same. I like the answer no the computers are different lol.

so the answer would be no? my computer would not run it cuz of the sai? or egr in this case?

You can but its a lot of work. The ecms are different.

And btw you can find L61's pretty cheap. So I don't know why you would want the cavalier engine anyways.

^this... cavi's always swap to our motors.. cobalt 2.2's are better

You can use any L61 block except the J body crank reluctor wheel is different.so basically you can use the block and would have to use your crank and head.You can try getting a 2007-08 L61 which has gen 2 internals(stronger block,better flowing head,different camshaft profile)you would just have a useless cam sensor chilling on the front as earlier L61's don't have the cam sensor.

yea what he said. you can use the block but you have to use your crank and head. that what i did. i built my engine with a cavi block. and used my crank, oil pan, and head.
