Vacuum/boost issue

So at idle or anything my gauge stays on 0 and at wot my boost numbers are all over the place i checked gauge wires all look good and when u start the car the bypass valve pin should go in right? Idk what the problem is and help?

n0xid May 9, 2012 03:57 PM

Leak somewhere.

heathkidder May 9, 2012 04:17 PM

But where all can it leak from

n0xid May 9, 2012 04:32 PM

Intake manifold gasket, any vacuum lines, that kind of stuff. Does the car act funny at all? Could just be a leak by your gauge and nothings really up haha.

heathkidder May 9, 2012 04:33 PM

Im not sure where to check my bypass valve is fine though

heathkidder May 9, 2012 04:34 PM

No acts fine just the gauge acts funny and iv replaced a few hoses just incase but didnt change im gonna email aem maybe its the sensor

heathkidder May 9, 2012 04:37 PM

If i felt around could i find it while its idling

n0xid May 9, 2012 04:43 PM

Would be the easiest way, if it's showing 0 then a lot of air should be hissing out somewhere. As you said it might be the gauge, maybe find a mechanical one to test out.

heathkidder May 9, 2012 04:46 PM

Like one that isnt digital and yea i should have 21-22 vacuum and should hear it if its at 0 i looked the number up on gauge and says its suppost to read boost and vacuum but on paper work doesnt say anything about vacuum

n0xid May 9, 2012 04:59 PM

This is exactly why I don't use the electronic boost gauges, more stuff to go wrong haha. Definitely check around where the sensor for the gauge is though.

06_SIC_SS May 9, 2012 05:02 PM

turn the motor on and let it idle.. spray soapy water over vac lines and points of interest.. see bubbles.. u have a leak

heathkidder May 9, 2012 05:47 PM

30-4406 is the gauge i have isnt it vacuum also? If i had a leak idk why it would remain 0 and not jump around atleast

it is a vacuum gauge also. where did you tap the line for it? Mine is off of the nipple on the intake manifold.

turdsandwich SS May 9, 2012 06:18 PM

Make a boost leak tester and hook it up to the throttle body and do a test. With the car off pressurize the system and spray soapy water on anything that could leak. Could be injectors seals tb gasket intake manifold gasket. Something's leaking.

heathkidder May 9, 2012 07:09 PM

It was a pain to get the intake off id hope i dont gotta take it off lol im still wanting to blame it on the gauge it should show some type of vacuum why exactly 0

nhanson May 9, 2012 07:44 PM

Your idle is ok?

Start spraying starting fluid around vac lines and such...idle changes then thats where the problem is

heathkidder May 9, 2012 08:56 PM

Ill try sumthin tonight i checked everything and felt around and found nuthin ... Its always the lil things

heathkidder May 10, 2012 03:10 AM

So i took some vids im gonna post up but the damn gauge stays at 4-8 then randomly goes to 0 then when i go wot it goes to 0 and i let off and it shoots to 16 wtf lol

it was on my fone dk if you can even see it ill have to get a better vid but pretty much the gauge is fuckin haunted

06_ion2 May 10, 2012 09:16 PM

heathkidder May 10, 2012 09:18 PM

Right off the mani lol

Spray minor amounts of propane from a soldering torch around suspected areas while idleing and listen for rpm jump.
