Wtf!!!!!
so im pissed here is the story. i dynoed the car a while back and put down 151whp with just a intake and catback. On sat at the midwest meet i dynoed it with everything in my sig done and the highest i put down was 140, WTF!!!:cussing: i was so pissed. i was thinkin like at least 160-165. what could be the reason for such low numbers the only thing i can think of is the clutch is starting to go and the guy burned the fuck out of it pulling it on the dyno. i just thought maybe it was slipping cause he burned it so bad. any ideas?
|
dont they only dyno in one gear? so your clutch prob has very little to do with the low numbers
likely what you have here is either: 1. different dyno (different kind, or calibrated differently then before) 2. different weather conditions (heat soak, higher humidity, high temp, etc all result in lower numbers) Post up both graphs, I HIGHLY doubt the catback and intake reduced your whp |
are you positive it was the same type of dyno? lol
|
did you have a different grade of fuel in the car? 87 and 91 octane will have a big difference in performance.
|
never said it was the same type dyno. i dont remember the first kind of dyno it was like 3 years ago the latest on was a dyno jet. it was really humid but even tho how can i add the 2.4 mani a throttle body header downpipe and a tune and lose 11 hp.
it was 93 octane on this one and i have no idea on the first |
either way around this one should have produced higher numbers if it was 93 octane. you have an injen CAI right?

I dont think you have to worry about your car losing power. You cant really compare the two runs when your baseline was hundereds of miles away and 3 years ago.
Chalk it up to different conditions. If it really worries you that much, go back to the original dyno and see what happens. |

it was 93 octane on this one and i have no idea on the first If you're going to use a dyno as a measuring stick for your modifications, do it more scientifically - always use the same dyno and if you want a before/after estimate, then dyno as close to (if not immediately) before and after you put a mod on. THEN you'll really know what is going on with the car.

sounds like a different calibrated dyno as most of the people responded said...my buddy dynod his evo on a dynojet and got 291whp...the other week he had a proper tune and a couple supporting mods and the dyno read 278whp...owner of the dyno said his dyno read 25% lower than a dynojet so yeah...sounds like you were on a different calibrated dyno
|
An Engine does not run the same everytime you turn it on, somedays it runs better than others, I know there are times when I boost my cobalt it feels like it laggs and on others I feel an incredible pull lol

well you only have 160 at best so who cares lol j/k.... i was there and saw that run... nice car btw... i've heard that dynojets are usually 15-25 whp higher almost like the factory rating at the crank... no idea whats going on there, but if it helps any, i've had mine dynoed on a mustang dyno (stock) and had 243 whp, but on a dynojet it read 258whp. dont know how you're losing power though, doesnt make sense.
|
so you saw them smash the fuck out of the exhaust then. i got under the car and it is bad man he totally fucked my resonator
|
I heard that some speed shops tweek their dyno like a gym will do their scales as they want to make the customer happy.
Not sure if that is what happened here, but I agree that it has to be the two dynos are calibrated different. I hear these are more for before and after result monitoring than really getting accurate output numbers, but I could have been told wrong info. Sounds about right. But as such, I would go back to the original dyno you went to for an output comparison. I would also wonder if a new mod shifted your output a little. Does your car run better than before the new mods is what I would go off of. |
did he fuck up your resonator before or after the 140 horse pull.........
a restricted exhaust is like a death wish for hp numbers. |
for reference, a dynojet will usually dyno a stock L61 around 130-135whp, whereas a mustang dyno will display a stock L61 with 115-120whp. The type of dyno makes a huge difference
|
^and mustang being the more accurate one. if you want an inflated ego go with dynojet if you want honesty get mustang dyno'd
|
If you know anything about DYNOS, you should be able to come up with a half dozen reasons that the results are very differant.
