180hp N/A help

I have a 2010 cobalt ls and with the 2.2L suppose to have 155HP I am very much happy with the car in the last year. I would like to keep it N/A but bring the HP to around 180. Any help with the parts needed to accomplish this would be a great help. Thanks -Josh

Full bolt on's will get you from 155 flywheel HP to 180 flywheel HP

You will need:
Intake (Injen is a good choice)
Header/Downpipe (Vibrant is a good choice)
Cat Back Exhaust (Magnaflow is a good choice)

We carry all these and much more on www.TurboTechRacing.com

A custom tune should then push you up to that mark.

Then add a set of Engine/Tranny mounts, to firm everything up (and dress up the engine bay also)

Aaron is correct. Of course its easier to achieve that with LE5 parts so you should consider the LE5 manifold and throttle body. But you're getting into more complex mods if you do so. Shooting high = complicated modding.

I would second this, the 2.4L intake manifold on the 2.2L would be another good choice. Even though we dont carry this, we would still recommend it.

I have heard very bad things. Also don't think you'd even see much for gains.

I'm gonna make life easier on the OP:

Simple:
Injen Intake
Full 2.5" Exhaust
-Vibrant Header/DP (I use)
-Ark DT-S (I use)
Tune

More Complicated:
2.4 Intake Manifold
2.4 Throttle Body
Cams
Head Port
Valve Springs
Etc..

I have seen 2.4's reach 180whp uncorrected (Dynojet for you dyno nutt huggers) with relative ease.. On a 2.2 you'll need to get into the heavy mods for 180+ to be possible. It will become a time and money pit but whatever floats your boat.

My '06 2.2 made 137 Wheel hp with AEM dryflow cold air, 2.4 TB, 2.4 intake manifold, full SS/SC exhaust, and a tune.

I believe yours already has the TB and intake manifold so that would be a waste of time. Cold air and full exhaust with a good HP tuners tune should make the car real fun to drive.

Your LAP already has the 2.4 manifold, just the revised 2008 version from the 2.4 Sport models but you still have the 2.2 TB. And because it also has similar wiring you can bolt in a 2.4 throttle body without a tune. You have to get the 6-pin 2008 version. I have it on my LAP w/o a tune and it helps on the topend along with my SS/TC catback. Hopefully to tune later

yea that was issues with the old design befor they revised it.

but the notice in throttle response is very noticeable it also revs up alot faster because its lighter and in my case smaller

is 180whp possible on the 2.2 without porting the heads? basically with all mods listed above except for the heads?

oh ok. well what are the heads worth then? you're not planning on doing heads are you.....just seems like a lot of money to p&p heads for like 15-20whp.
