350hp??

i have a 2010 4 door lt. i would like to make 350. any ideas?

mods considered-
2.4 tb
k&n drop in
msd ignition
2.4 plenum
springs and retainers
rods and pistons obviously(weisco pistons and eagle rods)

as far turbo set up-
tial 44mm
hks ssqv
black intercooler(sleeper look)

now turbo size is the big thing. i want quick spool and to make boost at like 3k but make 350hp. but dont want to run obnoxious amounts of boost. dont want to do over 10-12psi

comments on mods. ideas. anything.

why would you want to do a build and go turbo if you're looking for hyper-miling?

cobaltdrag0615 01-07-2013 08:01 PM

getting a second balt with tax returns. I'm giving the hyper mileage one to my baby mama(:

Get s252 turbo.

cobaltdrag0615 01-07-2013 08:08 PM

what should I expect from that Turbo? pricing? brand? where to find? and performance aspect? spool delay?

oh okay that makes sense. well then how much money are you wanting to spend for just the turbo itself?

07cobaltLScoupe 01-07-2013 08:11 PM

look for threads like this that can help you (and ^EX ) now klutch here is a L61 and your a LAP but same idea

Pick up ZZPs turbo kit.

EXsoccer1921 01-07-2013 08:14 PM

if you're on a budget you could go with a precision 4831B. .48 a/r turbine. only a 48mm inducer. even though its a journal bearing it'll have insane spool with that combo. and it's rated to about 375-400hp. but i'm not sure at what boost level.

theres also the 3431E which is the same .48 a/r turbine but a 57mm compressor. rated to 545. so with that larger compressor you could hit your 350hp on lower boost than you would with a smaller turbo.

both of which are only $600

EXsoccer1921 01-07-2013 08:22 PM

heres just a bit of guideline on a starting point.

with larger turbos come larger turbine housings, which you want to stay away from. .82 .70, .63, and .55 a/r is generally the smallest and most common you'll find. on smaller entry level turbos you'll find some with .48 a/r turbines. those are going to spool incredibly fast because one, their a small turbine. and two they're generally paired with a small compressor like the 4831B i mentioned. but with large turbos, it will take a less amount of boost to make the same amount of power compared to a small turbo.

so its kind of a trade off.

smaller turbo=quick spool, almost instant powerband, but will take more boost to make some power. and will generally not hold power deep in to the rpm range(small turbine housing)
bigger turbo=later spool, later powerband, but will take less boost to make some power. and will generally hold power further in to the rpm range(larger turbine housing)

most turbos are at their peak efficiency at 25-35psi. if you have an engine to run that, do it, and get the best of both spool and power. if not you'll have to go a little bigger and sacrifice spool in order to run the boost level safe for your engine. or run a smaller turbo and make a little less power than you'd like

zzp had a 252et turbo kit for a 2.4 for 2200 lol to bad i got it lololol

cobaltdrag0615 01-07-2013 08:30 PM

as far as just the Turbo kit alone I'd like to spend in-between 1500-3000 on it. I'm not planning on taking it to the drag strip Much. mostly quick street pulls and and good competitor or circuit tracka

i like the 252 as a low power, quick spool, goal'd turbo. but i only really suggest that if someone is set on getting the zzp kit. if they're piecing their own together there are a lot better options than the jb bullseyes as far as power vs spool

cobaltdrag0615 01-07-2013 08:35 PM

good competitor on circuit tracks. sorry posting from pos straight talk phone

I've got quiet a few circuit tracks in my area. 350hp+ would be good. but on the straights I'd like to hit boost quick. like 3-4k spool area

my parts list. thoughts? good ball park? anything need editing?

i wouldn't run a 44mm just yet. a 38mm will do just fine. i'm a fan of the ssqv when i ran it. what are your plans for the intake manifold? use the stock 2.4 one or run an aftermarket.

what about piping and intercooler?

if you aren't doing anything with the valve train i would stick to a smaller sized turbo. because you aren't going to be able to rev and take advantage of the bigger turbos not falling off up top, cause you won't be there.

05ssLSJT 01-07-2013 09:18 PM

the s252et is a badass Turbo. stupid fast spool and I've seen high 400's with it.

EXsoccer1921 01-07-2013 09:34 PM

probably on much higher boost than 10-12 psi though ;)

cobaltdrag0615 01-08-2013 12:14 AM

valve train I'm still looking for a sturdy repitiable brand. but yea springs retainers and a mild cam are a must. and I'd not want to go over 15psi really. keep it between 10-15.

and from what I've read in other threads. the 2.4tb and Plenum are better then most aftermarket options.

EXsoccer1921 01-08-2013 12:33 AM

well if you're set on not going over 15psi keep in mind what i said. you can run a smaller turbo and have an insanely fast spool and quick powerband. but not make much power. or run a larger turbo and sacrifice spool time and powerband but make more power than the small turbo. its a trade off when you can't run a turbo in its efficiency range

nwss 01-08-2013 01:10 AM

buy a zfr lol problem solved

07LSJ 01-08-2013 01:22 AM

I'm going to be selling my Hahn turbo kit. If your close to Miami maybe we can work something out. It includes everything you need, just not sure if it will fit a 2.2
Pm,me if anything

cobaltdrag0615 01-08-2013 08:11 AM

we haven't gone over injectors? are they going to need to be upgraded? or will the stocks hold up with 350-400hp?
