Chip.

do they work? Performance Module and Chip JET STAGE 1 UNDER DASH... or is it a bunch of poo lol

bluebalt07 10-07-2012 12:38 PM

Doesn't work, plain and simple. Tunes are the only thing that do and are only worth it if you have all the bolt on mods. There's trifecta and HP tuners. Hp is the better of the two.

FrossB 10-07-2012 12:41 PM

Bunch of poo. Real tunes are where its at

09sscalicobalt 10-07-2012 12:49 PM

they do work i used to work for them but it definately wont work as much as a real tune would...i mean zzp sells a canned tune which is pretty much same as a chip/module and they work great just not as much power as real tune

TommyTwinCams 10-07-2012 12:57 PM

Chips ONLY work as a viable tuning solution on OBD1 cars, when all cars had removable chips in the computer that could be reprogrammed. My Monte Carlo Z34 is OBD1 and works this way. All OBD2 cars (1996-now) work much better being hooked up to a laptop or special tuner to reflash the entire computer. chips are a thing of the past unless you're tuning OBD1.

All the chip does is make it look like your getting really cold air into the engine so it runs full timing.

bluebalt07 10-07-2012 01:49 PM

^Pretty much which makes them dangerous

nhanson 10-07-2012 01:54 PM

Yes.

Hp tuners allows you to change just about anything to do with the electronics of the engine. And it completely depends on if someone is good or not. It's not like a programmer where you have certain files you can just flash to the car, you have to create that file first.

Oh i see. Well this guy tunes Camaros and Trans ams so i dont think he would do good right? Better find some one with experience consults right?

bluebalt07 10-13-2012 01:00 PM

It depends on how familiar he is with the program. If he's really familiar with it, you could give it a shot but if it were me I'd want someone that's used to tuning cobalts just for the peace of mind that they should know what they are doing

Crav3 10-14-2012 02:43 PM

Yea im thinking that too.. But no one here tunes Cobalts.. At least i think since all Cobalt owners i know don't have a tune and the ones that do have trifecta

bluebalt07 10-14-2012 03:26 PM

Find someone around you that has hp tuners and then get remote tuning done by someone on here

Crav3 10-17-2012 01:51 PM

Oh you can do that? That's cool ill ask the guy if we could do that thanks
