dont waste your time/money

Any ls/lt guys, don't waste your time/money putting ss/tc springs on your car. There is minimal drop and handling isn't all that much better. Just put some on mine today and regret it. Oh well.

My 2 cents

SmackinJuice 08-21-2010 09:10 PM

were they new? or used? more information!

oh and who did you get them from? it should be actually a lot better, unless lap's are different from my 06

Mr.N00bLaR 08-21-2010 09:15 PM

How much did you think you would go down??? The springs are just one piece of what makes the handling better on that car, you need moar upgrayddddz. I didn't put the tc but the sc ones on and I went down about an inch. That was exactly that I was looking for :)

Do you have stock ls/lt struts and shocks? (ive got tc equipment). Sway bars? Good tires?

Nighthawk243 08-22-2010 02:00 AM

If you just put the TC springs on and not the shocks/struts or sway bars, then thats the reason.

dpy31484 08-23-2010 05:50 PM

I have a 09 pontiac g5 gt. Would there be any difference if i swapped out my stock springs and struts for the ss/tc or ss/sc? I've heard before there is no difference so would it be a waste time/money for me?

THIS! only the springs? ya wont help much at all. The shocks/struts are the bomb ass piece.

SuperchargedSS 08-23-2010 06:28 PM

Hahahaha

09xfebalt 08-23-2010 09:27 PM

i only started with the springs and it was night and day difference driving with about an inch inch and a quarter drop

^this. All I did was springs, but I was told it would drop the car an inch and a half.... I dont really notice any better handling either :thumbsdow

northvibe 08-24-2010 02:08 PM

well although springs are important... I dont think you would see much of an handling increase vs if you stayed stock springs and went with the tc shocks/struts. The whole point though, is the do both for increased handling. Springs only would be 99% for looks in your case.

07SuperchargedSS 08-24-2010 06:49 PM

Which is all I was going for and it really didnt lower shit, lol

mexi_loco 08-24-2010 06:56 PM

if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure the springs at least are the same as the s/c model. Were you looking for more of an aggressive stance, or better handling for your buck? Cause ss/tc struts with pedders offers better handling, but a good drop, well you're looking for aftermarket springs. If you want the best of both worlds, then you're most likely looking for coilovers.

blackbolt89 08-24-2010 07:15 PM

did you drive the car around at all to allow the springs to settle or are you all pissed cause it didnt drop without settling...

chris88z24 08-24-2010 07:17 PM

Hi guys, I just slapped a Tc turbocharger on my exhaust manifold. The car sounds better, but it doesn't really go much faster.

Just wanted to let you know.

07SuperchargedSS 08-24-2010 07:18 PM

Naa I drove around and they settled....ill re-measure but I don't think it dropped at all

Maybe so, but at least I didn't spend any money on stock Cobalt parts in hopes of lowering my own car. ;)

this man is right.

Also, you can not expect to test the handling of your car by swerving it across a two lane street pretending to be ken block

Go run a solo sprint event or a auto x before and after, report back with details

mexi_loco 08-24-2010 07:29 PM

i believe everyone who owns an ls knows that about a stock part. Also, if a drop was all that you were looking for, then you should've looked for aftermarkets. They're not that expensive. Modern Performance sells some eibachs for like 200.
