Supercharge LAP

I decided to finally go SC instead of TC, dont flame about TC being better because i know it is for hp number and etc...

My question is how much power can the stock internals handle on the '10 2.2, Ive read about 350WHP(ish) turbo'd Gen-II blocks. But I was curious if anyone knew how much more?

Also will the stock exhaust have to be replaced? Im doing a cat delete hopefully this weekend, if that makes a difference.

nizzle 08-25-2011 05:26 PM

I'd suggest atleast a 2.5" exhaust. Not sure what is on yours right now tho

nhanson 08-25-2011 05:38 PM

About 250 HP on the internals (rods).

For best flow get header, downpipe (2.5"), cat-back (2.5")

ItalianJoe1 08-25-2011 05:40 PM

You can stay stock exhaust (cat removal is a huge help), but there's no good reason to. A nice aftermarket exhaust like the GMPP that sounds clean and flows way better than stock will help out quite a bit.

You won't make 300+whp on a blower setup anyway, so you shouldn't have internal problems. I'd suggest keeping it under 15psi as that seems to be the good safe limit for the current crop of boosted 2.2/2.4 guys, but if it was me i'd just pound it til it gave up, then put some pistons/rods in it when you get to that point.

Only reason I asked is because this way i can get the blower on before the snow comes and dont have to worry about exhaust right away. Dont want to go drop a huge amount of money right away on the car.

krizlx 08-25-2011 05:47 PM

250 on stock internals

ItalianJoe1 08-25-2011 05:51 PM

I've setup a ZZP turbo kit on a 2.4 with stock cat-back, it works just fine.

You bought wrong blower

zerosk8ter83 08-26-2011 10:58 AM

good price for a m90 tho

Leafydialupking 08-26-2011 11:18 AM

M90 can work, takes a ton of work though, ask 100%meth about it. I've run stock exhaust on the mp62 with a small pulley, its real damn quick but still you're leaving a ton of power on the table.

strykr 08-26-2011 03:22 PM

i messaged him, its the mp90 (newer gen of the m90) that he used. But there are builds on the internet of people putting m90's on the L61 2.2's..

100% METH 08-30-2011 01:36 AM

it's not a newer gen

the mp90 is magnuson's version of the m90.

So wait if I were to replace (just not remove) the stock cat for a hi flow magnaflow, it would help even for a 1.75 stocker? Cause I was thinking about that, and replace the stock muffler for a Dynomax turbo. Otherwise upgrading to 2.25/2.5 is optional.

ItalianJoe1 08-30-2011 03:34 PM

Anything will help, but if you put a real exhaust on the car it will help more.

strykr 08-31-2011 12:45 PM

Gave up on the m90, going to try to sell it now. Hopefully end up finding myself a cheap m62 afterwards.

redcobalt07 08-31-2011 01:31 PM

250hp tops.

Bl@ckC0balt 09-29-2011 12:51 PM

250whp orrrr 250 crank hp?

LtDanBoostdG5GT 03-26-2012 02:48 AM

I dyno'd 271whp on my LAP currently under boost (turbo)

Your sig says forged block. Do you mean forged rods and pistons? Because with the stockers you won't last very long

nhanson 03-26-2012 11:27 PM

Keep in mind that the "250 HP" test was done with NITROUS (which is a harder hit than boost).

People see 250+ whp and are fine. Some even 300 whp but thats getting dangerous.
