2.4 w/oil cooler to 2.4 w/o oil cooler

I have a 2006 cobalt with a 2.4 w/oil cooler, does anyone know if I can install a 2.4 w/o oil cooler. Thanks

I have a automatic with 2.4 with oil cooler, just wondering if I could install a 2.4 with out oil cooler as they are cheaper and readily available.

Did you ever put in that engine without the oil cooler? i have a manual that had one but finding engines with an oil cooler is almost impossible and way more expensive

You don't have to have an oil cooler. Only thing you would have to do to make it work is either get a T-stat housing for an Ecotec without oil cooler or loop or plug the coolant lines that go to the oil cooler.

You will just need a lower radiator hose and a reservior hose from non oil cooler model.

IF you get the different T-stat housing. If you just looped or blocked off the cooler lines you should be able to us the same lower rad hose if I am thinking right.

yeah you can delete it pretty easily.

The tstat housing is the same, it's not like lsj's from what I understand and from what I've seen on my motor which is an le5 with oil cooler out of an hhr.

I was under the assumption that the oil cooler was setup the same as LSJ. If not the t-stat housing where do the coolant lines for oil cooler branch off from?

It's set up like the lnf if I learned correctly. Basically there is a t fitting in the lower radiator hose and then a t fitting in the upper oil cooler hose.
The t fitting in the radiator goes to the lower oil cooler hose.

The t fitting in the upper oil cooler hose goes to the coolant reservior.

So I would be able to delete the oil cooler use the existing hoses (if long enough) and still use the t fitting for the reservoir? Or could I run the reservoir straight to the t stat housing in the oil cooled housing?
