Bottom end rattle?
My friend has an 07 Cobalt ltz with the 2.4 and it recently has started rattling in the bottom end of the engine and it matches pace with the Rpm, but the car is topped right up on oil, and isn't really abused but he does beat on it. My question is It worth digging into the 203,000 km engine to see what the problem is or should we just swap it out?

Ltz isn’t a 2.4. It’s a 2.2. So it’s not abused but he does beat on it. How does that make sense. Check the timing chain area.

Then this one's been swapped before he got it if thats the case because it's certainly a 2.4 and not a 2.2 and we learned that the hard way. Also he takes it out on trackdays and such but he certainly doesn't go crazy on the track with it and has always stayed on the safe side of things with it and usually doesn't drive it hard unless he's at the track

No but next time i see it i can get some pics. for now we dug in and found the issue.. mostly because his girlfriend took it out and the timing chain let go... Is the 2.4 an interference engine?
