JBP VVT LE5 Camshafts
I've built many race engines, and one thing I know, valve trains don't need to be broken in. After a few miles, all the air is out the hydraulics and the valve seats are peened and deburred.
NOTE: The old Quickway cutters sometimes left some chatter marks on the seats if the operator didn't know what he was doing (loose pilots and/or too much pressure), but I haven't seen this in a long time. After 6-10 gradual run-ups under moderate load you should be good to go. Compression will continue to increase slightly for 500-1000km as the valves seat in, but hard driving during this time won't affect longevity or durability of the engine.

Partially true, w/o getting technical, flat tappet actuated valvetrains are recommended to be broken. However, as sushidog said, the LE5, being a roller setup, does not require a break-in.

My butt is telling me the car really hauls from 3800rpm onwards the power band is so much greater now,I think if Im correct,it has something to do with cam duration,I will set a dyno appointment on Monday but my butt knows its over 20hp. On a nuber of occasions since yesterday, the extra power caught me ff guard and I had to slow dowm, cause when you hit mid 3's and up the power comes at you quick, my car runs better now than without the new cams, who would of thought, the cams definetly make the engine bay sound loud and agressive over the 4000rpm mark
freaking awesome, YOU ARE THE MAN g5mike. You deserve it after the hellish months that just passed. Make sure you get some video clips of the dyno runs, and some agressive driving lol

I'd love to see how compatible these would be with the stock automatic. Do you have emissions testing up there? That will be an issue here in Colorado.

For you guys that go to the track, you are gonna love them, there is so much power being unleshed at 4000rpm and up, and at that rpm they scream, scaring people and animals everywhere,at that rpm, I hear my engine bay now and not my catback, the intake cam is very agressive the nastier of the two cams a downpipe will compliment this big time to help get out the incomming air, just feels like the car wants to be pushed big time at this rpm range making my previous stock cams seem lame. OH something I have not mentioned I really cannot notice any loss of lowend power, Damn I need a dp and quick its gonna make this so much fun, just imagine what Hp tuners would do for this also. Can you guys believe that we all thought these would have to be tuned in and they dont, another money saver to consider, making these cams even more attractive to potential buyers, sorry to ramble on guys, its just that this mod has made me enjoy my car even more now. Damn just noticed this has turned into a 23 page thread

Glad to hear you're happy with the cams Mike. I know the wait was long, but doesn't it feel great when you finally get to feel what all that hard earned money and downtime spent produced in the end? I certainly think so. There's nothing like the sound of a healthy naturally aspirated engine making good power.

ahhh i see. Once everything is broken in, you should be able to safely up the redline quite a bit. Do you plan on going to the track at all? I'm excited to see what you can run with this setup.
