What parameters are you guys trying to edit with HPTuners? Just rescale the MAF to smooth out A/F.

Without having to search the entire thread, what are the new cam specs compared to stock, such as duration, lift, and lobe separation angle or timings?

Edit: 500 for a tune?

Nope. I'm not a dud. I still have money in my pocket to spend on something that might net me more than 3HP.

Just giving you a hard time. Don't get mad at me. I'm just trying to determine a final verdict here. So far all I've seen was a dyno day with poor results and the inability to tune for them. I'm not even sure if you get into HPT you can do much. The VE table is a 5-dimensional graph with intake and exhaust cam angles as two of the dimensions. Worst part is, HPT doesn't provide support for locking and/or logging those angles yet.

Mike,
Make sure your tuner has the new HPTuners 2.1.16 version that was just released. I had problems with my '06 HHR, 2.4 w/E67 ecm. I tested the pre-release verion for them and that fixed the problem.

Just hope your tuner is better than the original cam installer! The GM ecm for these cars are a whole new ball game for tuners. Much difference from past proceedures. That said, so far I've seen some noticeable gains so far tuning my HHR. I still need to find the time for more learning and tweaking before going back to the dyno (many runs so far) so I can see the actual results.

FWIW, I honestly believe that any dynos you run are going to be meaningless as far as evaluating the gains from the cams. By that I mean that you never got a baseline for comparison and because of the other mods (larger valves - p&p head), any figures for gains will give little indication of the actual gains from the cams alone.

Still looking for what you get, though! Good luck!!

I agree, but is not a dyno tune the only way to get the full gains from HPT,olus those dyno guys are the only people out here who tune

It's BENNY! i didnt know you had hptuners! Myabe you should show some of the Domestic Disturbance crew what works for you. I've been tweaking a little, but I haven't had time to read up on it. Our next meet is pretty soon, you should come along.

BTW Mike, good luck man, I know its hard but hey, at least the car runs!

OK guys! the car goes into forcefed on Friday at 1;00pm, these are good people with lotsa experience, now that Rod(victoryredss) got logged into my car I can have it tuned also. Now their dyno gives low numbers they have had both a 2.4 and an ss/sc on their dyno. The 2.4 with the GM mods dynoed at 122whp and the bone stock ss/sc at 189whp,that being said I'm hoping for 150-155whp. now I don't have the gm manifold and I had to take the downpipe off after clogging the cat so maybe I may be pushing it.Let you all know Friday

hope it works out for you Mike...

Just outta Curiousity, how in the hell can a 2.4 only do 122whp???? they're rated at 170 at the crank, but that much of a loss to the wheels??? I know you said it dyno'd low...but that's ridiculous...lol

all I can say is every dyno is different, you will see some outrageous numbers and some very low numbers at least I got a car to compare mine to so I will know what I got out of the cams. That same 2.4 went to Kentic dyno in Langely and dynoesd 50hp more, but Kenetic are dicks and they dont want to tune my car.So this is why if I get 150 then I will know that I actually got over 200

maybe in a few weeks when I can save a few more pennies I'll go to Kenetic and do a quick pass on theirs
