Mike, if the shop your dealing with has any concerns or questions about timing feel free to have them call me.

Let me know if you need parts. If you are going to wait 2 weeks for parts to come from michigan, I can next day air them as I have pretty much everything to do a head swap in stock.

Mev,I gave Fazsel your number, thanks, they are closed tommorro, but he is supposed to call me when he has figured out the problem,he has brought up the possibility of a bent valve but I dont think so cause we did not do anything more than try to turn the car over, anyways fazsels phone number is 604-591-3804

Gee, sorry for the bad news, Mike. But there's an upside.

If the head has to come off and at least a couple valves are out anyway, it sounds like time for some primo valve springs so you can bump up the rpm safely! It's much cheaper to do it now than later. Maybe JBP will make you a great price on some springs so you can test and eval. both products together.

Maybe even a mild port and Polish while you're at it.

What do you say guys?

Come on, you know you want it!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you can bend valves easily by cranking the engine over with the starter. A bent valve, even so slightly, is a garbage valve and won't seal during a leak-down test. If you are ever in doubt with timing, it should be tested by turning the engine over by hand prior to dry starting...

I think a complete set of installation instructions should accompany these cams and springs. I mean at the very least copy the FSM section and attach it.

Mike...go punch your buddy..

before you're talking about bent valves, are the 2.4s intereference or non-interference engines when you have the JBP cams in em? cause thats something to consider before going on a fact finding mission and taking the head off.

You need two specialty tools when installing springs and camshafts. You also need a fair amount of understanding of engine operation when installing camshafts for any engine. Even seasoned mechanics can make mistakes with the best of instructions.

Mike is our tester and mentioned that he had someone "competant" to do the install. We did offer full instructions for install. At any rate, we include with our camshafts an outline the tools necessary for the install, how long it should take a competant mechanic/shop to perform the install and Pack up their cams and to take it to a competant license mechanic or performance shop. We DONT want customers who have an "idea" of what to do, to do the installation of cams.. Take it to the pros', to avoid exactly what Mike is going through...

Great support JBP. I wasn't implying that you didn't offer install instructions, but I am glad to see that you did!! Also that you rent the valve spring tool is exxcellent

I agree and then (you have likely already done this) kick yourself in the ass for letting him near your engine.
