LE5 performance problems
So I hear so many ups and downs with the different mods and manufactures...anyways I was wondering what peoples opinions were with the desicion to first go with gmpp cold air intake, then zzp TB upgrade before I tune or us a tune necessary with these two and than with these two mods if jets stage 1 is enough or if I should go stage 2?? I only ask Cuz I have limited budget right now and exahust and real tune is down the line
I would go injen CAI... and yes a TB u will need a tune with that.
The TB scalar between the LE5 TB and LSJ is small enough to get by without a tune, in fact ZZP doesn't adjust for it in their SC kit tune so that says something.
I'd do this if I was in your position: Cobalt & Ion ---> ZZ Performance |
If ur on a budget I'd say get the zzp intake tube , k&n drop in filter a down pipe n a tune . Then save for bigger and better things
ok so far i am understanfing that i can get by with a cai or even the zzp intake tube and a drop in k&n and the le5 adapter and the lsj tb with out a tune...anybody know how much the stock exhaust can handle... cuz i know that if you add more air obviously you are going to need a tune for more fuel and exhaust to let it out realisticly...but thanks for the input because for now i am trying to find a good combo for my budget

The downpipe is a big killer on power I noticed a big difference when I was n/a and got the zzp dp seemed to pull way harder
so your saying dp before a header?
Stock exhaust couldn't handle a M62, but can take anything you throw at in on the intake side.
My GF drove the balt with the ZZP DP the day before I added the SC and she actually noticed the difference, and she never notices much unless it isn't running at all. It was a big meh for me, can't say I noticed any difference but that is the problem with incremental upgrades, you are adding power (hopefully anyways) a few HP at a time. |
Dp is right after the header . Before I went turbo my set up was ported stock mani / zzp down pipe / Megan catback gmpp intake 100 shot of nitrous with trifecta tune it ripped ha
haha i know where the dp is im saying should you get a header or dp first?
DP. Cheaper and easier to install.

ok so i understand i can do what i want to do from cai to tune with out exhaust work...now i have been looking around and gm makes a cai for the car themselves and i can pick it up for $220 which i thought was good any thoughts? plus i was just looking for a tune to just drop in and go like jet any particular brand you like? for the tb and mounting plate i am just gonna go to zzp along with their dp and possibly header
Just so you know I installed the new TB but I had an agressive tune pryer and it made a big difference. I put a thread up about it and another owner installed it without a tune and it did not work... Just so you know.

I'm running a K&N intake, GMPP honed mani, and stock LSJ downpipe with the original 2.4 catback (which is common to LSJ). (I got the GMPP mani for a good price, and didn't want the additional noise from a header.) |
