I have been thinking a lot of what I want to do to this car if anything. I have my LNF exhaust I wanna throw on this year but I am also thinking of a cold air and a meth kit. I want more power out of it but I do not wanna have to run 94 or an E mix in it so I was thinking meth would be an easy solution. That being said for kicks I'll try a tank of 94 in it to kinda get an idea of the gains I may find with the meth kit.

Have you tried running more timing on regular gas? My 2.2 base model runs 26* with no PE active and no knock on 87 octane.

I believe I didn't get much more out of it but haven't even looked at it since last spring. I'll have to take a look

Once you pulled all the power out of the tune, there is reserve of torque hidden behind knock sensor sensitivity.

correct the torque model for modifications and the torque management won't need to be maxed out. also need to edit the VVE as well. there is so much more to the LE5 than people know tuning wise and they are leaving a lot on the table.

shall we make a thread? There is little to no info out there specifically for the LE5, so if you have extensive experience it would be good to hear your ideas.

I have plans to tune the VVE just haven't got around to it yet either. Also thinking of doing an E tune just for kicks

No need too. If you can search HP tuners forum, you will find all the info you will ever need. I said it years ago when i still had a cobalt, the 2.4 is the version to have due to the ecm. this is why.

I can totally agree with you there that the base models + the 2.4 ss cars definitely have a lot more to worth with in terms of ecm tuning. I have learned pretty much everything i know of tuning from reading the hpt forums and asking knowledgeable people what their opinions are on things. I will search for threads you have posted in. Thanks

E78 I have successfully reduced knock sensitivity, notably improved top end torque (no power drop off as you reach redline).

E67 2.4 car is still on stock settings, I have dyno pulled it with the stock knock settings and looking at the graph torque drops off up top, even running a 1000 hp meth injection jet it should keep pulling without detonation. The tech also noted the forged bottom may be falsing too.
