lsj throttle body on le5?

i was thinking of buying a used lsj tb (plate adapted and what not ) but does any1 have any opinions on simply boring out the le5 throttle body? i figure i could get pretty close to that size..mayb just meet the size of the intake manifold? and itd be nice to put the 300$ toward somthing more promising ..has any1 done this? thoughts worryys?

You could probably do that. Depends on what you do with the car. Plan to supercharge then buy it. Plan to turbo dont buy it.

If you plan on going S/C then you will have to get the LSJ TB anyway.

Not necessarily but the sc won't breathe as well with a smaller tb

So if i bored out my le5 tb for now ( consodering itd be free and somthing to do for now) woulf i see ant gainss? Would it he safe and how big sould i go ?

I think if you port your LE5 tb you would see gains. There is quite a bit of material that can be removed. Just don't mess with the small area where the butterfly plate needs to create a nice seal with the housing. If you open up that area it will be fubar.

when I put the lsj throttle body on my car it would bog down all the time when smashing the peddle. When I put my stock tb back on it would burn rubber halfway down the block!!!

and yes it was tuned for it so that wasn't the issue

You cannot just bore out the LE5 throttle body. You can port and polish it, but it has some areas on it that need to remain in tact for idle transitions and such. If you take it off and look you will see some built in waves that control the airflow depending on the butterfly angle.

if your looking for easy gain and to satisfy your car modding needs, suggest airbox mod or k and n typhoon. as mentioned, deciding if your going SC / TC down the road can determine your TB
