Mega Mad LE5 2.4 on the dyno

I assembled the engine June-July 2018, first fired mid-August. Dyno pull here, this is with the single 5557 turbocharger not twincharged, yet:

Full build and details here: Twincharged Solstice = Turbocharger + Supercharger

LEA block, LE5 head

Here it is at the drag strip you hear the end of my tire cleanup; my best run this day was 13.0xx @ 111.9 mph. It's so quiet, how can it go so fast being so quiet

Planning on T&T Milan Oct 24th, 50F or warming I'll go. My car is pretty much maxed out, so will need to learn how to launch the car and also learn how to 'shift up' instead of shifting down when I'm going 100 mph at the end of the track yes I almost blew up the car last time. I should be into the 12's if I can get a good launch, then be kicked out for the day for being a convertible running 12's.

With good tires and that kind of power in rwd you could be pushing 12.0 or even high 11's.

In addition to drag radials, I will need driving practice. Also consider I was -5 degrees base spark and was hitting 210F IATs at the track last time running a filter directly on the compressor (hot air intake), solely because of packaging challenges, I may need to cut a hole in the hood or get creative.

210 IAT before or after the intercooler?

That much power should be in the 11s with a slick.

Did he show the hp/torque curve from the dyno pull anywhere?

After the intercooler, this should be MAF temp. I was spraying about 70% methanol / water too, so I assume it's maybe 190F at the valve. I will install the LSJ intake for the twincharger, so I'd like to add an IAT in one of the runners [shhhhh, along with 4 nitrous nozzles].

I don't think the barrel style intercooler is very efficient, I'll probably upgrade to a wide core type.

yeah, those iat temps are out of control for your setup. They should be nowhere near that.

You’re going to make less or the same power twincharged. Keep it turbo

I know it would be cost prohibitive but I wonder what the results would be like twin charging a TVS. I'm sure similar but would be interesting to see anyway.

Doesn't volvo & Mercedes twin charge their 2.0's? I haven't dug into any of the details. However, I know these are their top HP 4 cylinder's. There must be a reason over just going with a big turbo. My guess is drive-ability.

they use a clutched supercharger and bypass that disengage the blower in the top end

Imagine 4 wet spray nozzles behind that lsj intake for the times when it counts =)

Also consider, there is no talking me out of it hehe, I am swapping in an lsj intake and M62 so it's more of an experiment/experience since in-theory it's bolt on. I also considered the worst case is I sell this as a roots style SC kit for a kappa car (Slostice/Sky). This is the first time a kappa car will be M62 swapped; since all the smart ones LS swap.

If this works out and I had the dough to throw around I'd do it because it would require cutting and welding the intake snout to work with the Solstice.

I did some mild research on it, however it is much more fab work than an lsj M62 swap and I think if I really wanted all-shes-got then a complete bypass tube around the SC with a big turbo behind would blow out the M62 clutched SC.

Consider the PT5557 is rated for 495 hp and I am about 525 hp, it's probably making more heat than boost at this point. Also, a guy on youtube (!$&!%$, can't find it) did an empirical test with a heat gun, showed the $250 barrel style intercooler is horribly inefficient compared to a wide core thaitanium air water intercooler. I instrumented water outlet temperature, but I ruled out a bad zzp ignition coil (new) when my car started running bad after that 28 psi cold weather shake down hit on the night before test and tune at the drag strip last Wednesday.

This is what I am looking to ditch the barrel style I am currently running, space is a constraint so it must wait to go in when the SC goes in:

Hmm, maybe a retirement project is to Twin-Twincharge a V8 (twin charger for each 4-cylinder bank); assuming we don't run out of high octane gasoline by then:
