Supercharge a 2.4l

I've got a 2.4l sport 2008 and I'm looking to put a supercharger on it running stock boost for safest results looking for alittle bit more power not a ton but was wondering if I could leave the internals stock without hurting anything or having to rebuild the entire engine with new pistons and such

DFZ24 06-07-2016 06:58 PM

HP goals wise?
Don't know the "stock boost" on a 2.4. it differs from the 2.0SC

Honestly I think 250 is where I'd want to be only because I don't want to chance blowing anything

ItalianJoe1 06-07-2016 09:06 PM

Perfectly fine at that level. Much more will be pushing it.

On a blower 2.4, i'd use a standard 2.8" pulley and 42lb injectors, should be plenty for that setup on stock internals, and no reason to rev it super high.

i mean it's a daily but every so often I like to take the Rpms up to about 5-6000 to get some speed but it's not like I'd beat the eff out of it I should be ok though right?

ItalianJoe1 06-08-2016 06:39 PM

I'd beat it, what's the point of adding power if you don't use it?

I meant RPMS in regards to the injector sizing. I would rev an LSJ to 72-7400 at least. On an LE5 I'd keep it under 6500, so you can get away with a little more air on a little less injector.

Ive been wondering the same thing I have a 2.4l 2006 and want to super charge it but I have 180,000kmhs so im not sure if it will handle it.

Youll be fine. Those engines will handle anything an m62 can throw at it.

Le5s love to rev btw. 7k or bust

Could any of you senior members direct me to a boost gauge install for a S/C 2.4?? Please

Verbatim 04-29-2017 11:45 AM

08 le5 will hold quite a bit less compared to the 06-07 models. 250 to the tire is the highest safest for 08-10 le5s

boost gauge: vacuum line plugged into the port on the intake manifold.
switched power and ground at gauge, sunroof fuse...there's several dozen writeups and installs

chevygirl2006 04-29-2017 07:56 PM

I wired my boost gauge to the ignition and then a ground. Also there should no le5 after 08

I mainly asked because ZZP gives the 4bar MAP with their SC kit and that little barb on top of the LSJ intake mani is where you're supposed put the 4bar at, with a vacuum tube. So I was thinking like shit, am I supposed to run a boost gauge off the brake booster?!? Well here this entire time I've been running the too small 4bar MAP in where the LSJ MAP goes... So I've got the barb free to run the boost gauge. But now I've got to figure out if I can securely keep the 4bar where its at, OR put a T in a vac line on the barb and run the boost gauge and 4Bar... Thoughts?

run the factory LSJ 2.5 bar map; run the IAT wires from you MAF and hook them up to the MAP sensor.
you can net a lot better tuning results with air temps reading post blower.

Brilliant! The only thing is though... I don't have HPTuners
I will keep that in mind though! Will the 4bar do for now where the LSJ one is now??
Btw, read your thread about your build. Epic man! And congrats on your new life journey! :guns:

I could not answer that properly; I have no knowledge on the 4bar zzp has that you are talking about. is it part of the SC swap kit they offer?
there has to be a decent shop or individual local that is knowledgeable in HPT; head to the regional boards on here and do some digging. or get on the HPT forums and find someone local

thankyou, I find new little things I hate more and more about my car every day as it starts showing its age. but goddamn, I love that little turd in my garage.
And yes, I and very proud of where I am at in life and although I love my little one very much, it makes me happy that even at 4 months old, he is already showing signs of a gearhead in the making. God help us all, lol

chevygirl2006 04-30-2017 09:01 PM

I used my stock map sensor for a while and then switched to the stock lsj map.
