thicker 2.4 head gasket suppliers

Cometic says they do not offer thicker 2.4 Ecotec head gaskets.
Anyone know of any other suppliers.

If you only took off .010, I wouldn't worry about it and just run an oem one

My wonderful LEA took .010 just to clean it up. The head took another .010. Cometic replied today to my custom head gasket request.

"Unfortunately we do not offer the 2.4 Liter head gasket for the ecotec engine. We apologize for the inconvenience."

They make several 2.2 gaskets from .027 to .080.

I do not have intricate knowledge of head clearances but is .020 enough taken off to cause potential valve interference? Or do you have your pistons already and don't want the increased compression?

They will if you want to front the tooling cost but to date they never have.

From Cometic yesterday: I asked again just to make sure I heard them correctly.

It is not that we do not want to, but rather we do not produce that gasket yet. A MLS head gasket requires expensive tooling in order to make and we do not have a high demand for that gasket as of yet. Though, if you wanted to pay for tooling to have this made, I can get you a quote.

Thank you,

I'm going to stick with OEM. I adjusted for it with the lower compression height and deeper valve reliefs but wanted to save that for later go faster parts.

I haven' wrenched on the 2.4L, does GM use a stock MLS gasket? If so an option might be buy two, to take the rivets out that hold the pieces together and take one of the internal layers and add it to the other gasket. This was pretty common on the Chrysler 2.4L twin cam turbo in the Neon SRT-4 in the early days before any aftermarket companies were offering aftermarket MLS gaskets of different thickness.

There are only 3 layers and the middle is the very thin seal.
