Zzp cams
Looking at zzp cams for my 2.4 sc and I seen something about their 82lb valve springs are no good? Also looking at ottp 80lb, Which ones should I go with? Thx

Performance autowerks springs are the best springs you can buy. Wish I didn't sell mine. I want them back now lol.

82lb valve springs are fine. Been running mine with ZZP S2 LSJ blower cams and revving to 8k for a while now.

Get super tech 75# springs. They are a double spring
|

Myth with dual springs is you have redundancy if a spring breaks saving your engine. Not entirely true: if your dual spring lets go at redline, it's still going to cause damage trying to make the valve and piston occupy the same space at the same time.

I thought I had saw somewhere that the dual spring configuration has better harmonics or something like that. |

One of the best performing high lift drag springs PAC sells are the 1300 dual springs, which can take the place of triples. With a smaller diameter dual spring vs. a bigger triple you get lower mass (smaller retainer, effective spring mass) and you get a higher natural frequency (therefore improved high rpm valve control) and there is also some amount to gain from running a lower spring load (since you now have better valve control). This assumes you want to win races, notice there is no mention of longevity and endurance. These springs will for sure break, gotta inspect all the springs for load loss after every run and save expensive parts. The springs are treated with cold working and super high intensity shot peening and some other tricks which help the spring survive. If you calculate the theoretical maximum material stress on these high performance springs (based on geometry and math formulas) you'd be extremely surprised the springs are being stressed beyond the capability of the raw material!! Compressive residual stresses are amazing. |

All this talk of residual stresses made me pack up my springs and oil gerotor pump to ship out to WPC for some peening. Thanks alot.
