Cruze in show rooms by 01-01-10
I was just told today by a Union Official that GM want us to have the Cruze in the show rooms by Jan. 01 2010 instead of April of 2010. We might start cruze production this July or sooner. We will use up the Cobalt parts and maybe keep building them till july. Then on shut down they will retool the line. Also they are talking about putting the turbo motor that they have now in the Cruze along with the motor they are shipping over here from Europe.

They screwed up the Astra by not offering a turbocharged VXR for the US models and not offering a moonroof for the 3-door hatch. I sat in the 3-door Astra and thought it was very nice. The clutch was extremely light, the gearbox was decent, but the lack of a sunroof was a deal breaker.
I am curious if GM will ever release something like the 08-09 SS/TC in the near future.

Saturn is gone, so it is unlikely the Astra VXR will make its way here as a Saturn. The Delta Astra VXR doesn't make as much power as our SS/TC.
FWIW, the Cruze has replaced the Lacetti in WTCC for 2009 so we're going to be seeing a lot more of the Delta II/Cruze from this point forward.
Pontiac doesn't offer much high-tech options for their cars. You'd have to go with Cadillac to get the features that are available on some high-end 2010 Fords: LED tail lights, Xenon HID headlights (Mustang, Taurus SHO) but Cadillac has Lincoln beat for performance.
It'd be great if the Delta Cobalt SS/TC had the body style of a G6 Coupe. Those are sexy.

Cadillac HAD Lincoln beaten... not sure without the 'V'.
Pontiac doesn't need to offer high end options, they just need to offer fast-ass versions of what Chevy is selling. And should also consider going all RWD (which was supposedly a brand-plan with the introduction of the Solstice).
Anyhow, I think the Solstice and G8 are good for the Pontiac brand. The G6 looks nice but is kind of sedated in my opinion (though I've only driven, original V6, LE5 and GT trims). The G5 should've had a GXP, but whatever.

Possibly a Buick Astra? Whatever it is, Buick is getting a compact car based on the deltaII platform.
