If the Cruze SS exist, would you trade in your Cobalt?

the buick doesnt have the exact lnf the cobalt has. a GM Marketing guy just told jalopnik there will be no cruze SS. I'm surprised they dont make some wtcc or the german cruze packages and upgrades for the cruze. a 1.4l turbo gmpp kits would be fun for a 6spd manual cruze or aveo. 200whp 1.4l Turbo cruze..be a fun car.

i think that if they do make a cruze ss it will be in the 27k to 30k price range and it would obviously be competing with the evo and sti if chevy can keep the weight down. the reason i say that is because the buick regal gs is around 600-700 lbs heavier (depending on what source you look at) than the balt. and starting price for a regal is 27k. then when you look at the base cruze for 17k for a 1.4l turbo or 1.6l n/a, (not sure which motor starts at 17k) adding a new motor, trans, awd, supporting suspension mods, etc... will definitely add up in price. and even if they do come out with an ss i still wouldnt trade in my balt. i got my balt for WAY under sticker and too good of a deal to get rid of it. my next car will only be when im out of pharmacy school and it will definitely be a corvette without a doubt. chevy FTW!!!

well if gm doesn't do anything with the new car it will be a downfall. Small motors are the way to go with just enough power and fuel mileage. AWD make it happen. What are you waiting for GM. Don't fall behind do something for a change you got the money to invest....

GM is very unlikely to do anything interesting with the Cruze.
GM disbanded their HPVO (High Performance Vehicle Operations) unit back in 2009, the group responsible for Cobalt SS and others. They spread the engineers around the company, with the understanding that current models already in the production chain would be supported through end of production, and then, nothing (aside from warranty parts and service).
There is a turbo Cruze though. Turbo 1.4L I-4, that makes a whole 139hp or so.
So very sad, but that's the economy.

Looks hot! I dont think i would pay over $30 for it though... would much rather get a used EVO or something. Even '98+ WS6. One of the sexiest cars ever made.. IMO.

My next car will be correct wheel drive, so no, no Cruze SS. If someone held a gun to my head and told me I had to give up my Cobalt today, it'd be for a 5.0 Mustang.

Boss 302 will be out of my budget. A nice 5.0 would fit nicely and I could just mod it as I went along, kinda like I've done with the Cobalt.
But since we're being hypothetical I could probably sell some eggs on the side for a Boss 302. Or at that point just donate my ovaries for a ZR-1.
****. Now I want them both.

That is the Coupe rendering of what the Cruze SS might look like if there was ever one. Its a great idea but I'm pretty sure the Cruze won't get a performance version let alone a coupe

It seems like the american cars have abandoned the compact sports car for the muscle cars now.

well thats what they always made best anyways. Lets face it the American automakers aren't exactly well known for their sport compact cars.
