Even so, the dealer should not void the warranty because they claim they have saw you at the track. Total b.s.
Not necessarily.

A friend of mine had a Nissan 350Z that he took to the track... blew the transmission all to hell somehow. Called Nissan's Roadside assistance and had it towed from the track to the dealership. The dealership's owner laughed at him and said "We aren't warrantying that"... then Nissan stepped in and basically said, "We are warrantying it. The customer is #1. We should have made a better transmission."

----

AT the track or not... I believe that if a Company makes a High-Performance car... and advertises it as such... then the car should be able to handle whatever is thrown at it. If it for some reason were to break (whether just DD'ing or Racing it), it should be covered.

Obviously, stupid **** like holding it on the rev limiter for a minute is abuse. But I don't see racing as abuse. I think when GM Performance Division designs a car and molds it around track competition... it should be treated and warrantied as such.

I agree with you. If it's wearing the GM Performance Division badge, GM should step it up and warranty it no questions asked. THe only problem is getting the stealerships and GM to see things the same way.

Test -n- Tune's are not technically racing. You are just seeing if what your car runs in the 1320. You are just "Testing" the car.

Please, you are embarrassing the good men and women of the entire United States Armed Forces with your arrogant and (for all practical purposes) worthless comments.

Additionally, it's obvious to anyone with any amount of common sense that dynoing a car is not even remotely the same thing as racing a vehicle down the 1/4 mile.

But yeah, I forgot.

I said "anyone with common sense" ....

A good lawyer, maybe a few letters written to the GMPD & the heads of GM... that might be a start.

If GM destroys what little fan base that they have now... they will go under. And they need to realize that their dealerships are doing just that... destroying their fan base.

True again. You are not technically racing against the car in the other lane, but rather testing the car out to see what it will do. All within the normal operating ranges of the vehicle.

Are you freakin kidding me or something?

Take what you said to court, and they will laugh you out of there before you even finish your sentence.

Gimme a break man ...

Absolutely nothing in that statement is true.

Dude, shut the **** up. Seriously. You don't know **** about me... the post was meant as a joke because I KNEW it would get under your skin. I've seen it happen to you a million times. Someone says something you don't like, and you get your panties in a bunch. Almost all of your posts in ANY thread that I've seen have been absolutely worthless... and are almost ALWAYS being rejected as stupid/bull **** by the sites most respected members.

And keep the military comments to yourself. You aren't hurting my feeling. I did a year in Fallujah in 04 and watched many a friend die and been inches away from it myself. I've earned the right to say whatever the **** I want to on a goddamn internet forum.

And dynoing a car is pretty much the same as taking it down the 1/4 mile in the eyes of a dealership...

3 pulls to red line on the dyno... the gears to redline on the 1320

You are still pushing the limits of the car to see what it will do.

not to mention you can run a 1/4 on the dyno.. and run it up to your limit.. not restricted by friction or anything.. so actually dyno is harder in some cases.. esp cuz the car is chained down and not allowed much movement...

I wish i could go but i work on wednesday.. we need to make a track day meet... on the weekend though

I thought it was funny. Especially since my 2.8"/Stg2 put down 263/238 on the same dyno, not that it matters that much, they're just numbers.

Eh, it was a bitch in 04. Got there March 15, 2004... like 10 days later is when they killed those Blackhawk guys... and it was hell for the next 3 or 4 weeks, iirc, because we couldn't get supplies through. It got to the point where we were having to ration MRE's and make them last. Everyone was on edge because no one had any cigarette's. We got mortared/rocketed like every damn day... I have many a picture of "INCOMING!"

Our Patrol route started at the Fallujah Cloverleaf... all of Mobile to Abu Graib (which I heard they shut down), hop through that town (A-sala-sa-lem or something like that) and then onto Michigan. Everything inside of that was ours.

I have right about 1000 pics from that deployment.

$500,000 that was captured in Fallujah... I wish we could have kept it! This is from when we worked at that Prison on Camp Fallujah. We worked their for about 3 months, then we hit the ROADS.

It was less than a month after getting out of MP school that I was on a plain headed for Kuwait.

SORRY FOR EL THREAD JACK!

Frank, listen, I can tell you're a little fired up here, but rest assured...you'll find few people here who know the ins and outs of warranty coverage and its legal ramifications better than I. I've been on all sides of it for decades, including warranty administration at dealerships.

There's nothing in the warranty language that condemns coverage for the mere act of setting a wheel on a drag strip for the enjoyment of test passes.

As many can attest to, I don't condone warranty fraud, and I am very straight up with both prospects and customers about the fact that choosing to modify their car is also choosing to possibly void certain warranty coverages. I have to ride a fine line for all the right reasons, including my own relationship with GM.

I'm not reading any of the previous posts because I don't want to get myself angry. But for the record, let me just say this ...

My intent was not to tell anyone on here what to do/what not to do. I was just sort of making a "Public Service Announcement". That was it.

I thought people were gonna be happy for the heads up, but instead the flaming was relentless.

Believe me when I say that there's nothing else better that I'd like to do than to join you guys for a day at the track. In years past, I virtually lived at LVD (it was sorta my "2nd home" for a very long time).

So have fun, be safe, and be sure to post your slips ...

PEACE

Frank I for one greatly appreciate the info you have given (especially since that is my dealer of choice when I must go to a dealer.) I for one would have liked to see you at LVD racing with your cobalt. I personally think you should not let some loudmouth at a dealer influence what you can and cannot do with your own car. You even said yourself you used to practically live up there.. why not continue to enjoy the track with your current car? You only live once... I for one didn't buy a performance oriented car to drive around town like a grandma with it. Sometimes it's nice to put it through its paces and see what it can do. Especially you Frank, you have the perfect numbers.. bone stock track #'s. And now you have stage II, so I think that would be an excellent opportunity to run the car at least one more time. When this dealer was installing the stage 2 kit in your car, what exactly did they think you intended on doing with the car with the stage 2 package installed? To get from one red light to the other in town faster than everyone else? BUt anyway, that's the only thing I am getting upset over. Are you going to come and watch at least?

Also, who else is going? I am definitely going to be there with a few of my other buddies (turbo'd prelude, turbo sentra, possibly a few others). I will try to get there around 5pm, but no guarantees. Traffic is a bitch around that time.
