Stage 2 1/2 faster than a harley?
Stage 2 1/2 faster than a harley?
So I was on the way home from good old apple picking farm with the GF and my sister and her BF and a Harley pulls up next to us and an R6. Well needless to say, he wants to race. So I put it in 3rd, and floor it. I pull on him and continue to pull until I hit 110 and cut it off because I have a bunch of lives in my hands...
I really did not expect to be faster than a motorcycle but hey it was uplifting
Now the r6 on the other hand he went flying off at probably 150 into the distance...

Yeah, this one was Extremely LOUD, and as for the gay part, he pulled up next to us on my side and attempted to blow my GF a kiss, which was intercepted by me and I then winked and blew him a kiss back, then he speed off like a total retard badass almost hitting a semi.
^ this. and they cost like 20k I live near one of the plants and we have a system in the dealer across the road. biggest waste of money ever if i had 20k to blow on a fun toy i'd get a 03/04 cobra, sti, evo, etc.
I concur. Harleys are caveman motorcycles still living on a bad boy reputation built in the 50's and 60's. Every other marque, even ultraconservative BMW, has evolved and now produce machines with modern engines. HD is STILL aircooled (except for the V-ROD), uses pushrods, vibrates like crazy, uses goofy turn signals, a separate engine/transmission assembly and weighs a ton. Guess HD thinks their owners should be grateful that they don't leak oil like the old bikes. Net result is a bike that only makes about 65 horsepower despite a displacement of 88/96 cubic inches in stock non Screaming Eagle form and runs the 1/4 mile in about 14.0-14.5 seconds. Consumers should expect more for their $20,000 motorcycle. They don't handle very well either. A Gold Wing, Rocket III or other motorcycle with similar heft carries the weight lower and will run circles around a Harley. Top speed of a Harley is only about 122 M.P.H. full out. For comparison, a single cylinder 650cc Suzuki Burgman scooter has 55 Horsepower, 45 foot pounds of torque and has a top speed of 110 M.P.H. HOW LAME ARE STOCK HARLEYS? The Suzuki Burgman 650cc SCOOTER will pull a Harley off the line and they need a lot of real estate to catch up or pass a SCOOTER.
I like waving the flag and driving American iron, but I just CAN'T force myself to drape my leg over an expensive piece of carp that doesn't do anything well except sound good at idle.
It is still an accomplishment to drop a motorcycle, but now you know why.

Yea, would have been nice if you had raced a chopper. Those things are mean with the right setup. My uncle has a V-twin custom bike from Demon Choppers. That thing is fast. Fuel injected and supposed to put out like 120hp according to what he says. It's even geared high. He's completely afraid of it, lol.
You raced a Harley
That's like saying I had food for a meal. That's how broad that statement is.
And to the dude that has an uncle with a 120hp v-twin....that is probably GIANT cubes...ask him how does it feel to make the same amount of power as most modern supersport 600s.
The harley in my sig was faster in a quarter than an R1 (last one I raced was an 02 R1). But with all that torque it damn well should be. It only went 140 mph though cuz of the gears. Buells use the 1200 sportster motors/trans. Needless to say it was not stock. There is a reason why harleys are air cooled instead of water cooled. not a good reason but a reason none the less, it doesn't need it and it makes for less stuff to break. The way a cases on a harley leaks I would hate to see what a radiator would do OMG!!! I am a fan of harleys but they do have their quirks. They just aren't race bikes.
The 100 cube S&S motors make about 120 hp. The beastly ones like the 140ci twins make like 200 hp. Its the instant on torque that will get you, and so does a baker 6 speed trans. If you have a sport bike I will caution you not to race a 140 cube X-wedge with a 6 speed baker, you will die a horrible death.
Harleys aren't geared to race, they are geared to roll at 80mph all day long and make your entire body go numb. Coming from dirt bike racing I don't mind a little vibration... neither do the ladies that have ridden on the back.
Too bad you didn't pull that R6 OP but at least you can say you beat a BIKE that was MORE money that your car... Which is kind of cool I think.

Considering it's only a two cylinder and it has way more bottom end than a 600 4cyl. That's pretty good. If it can take off at idle and spin the 8 inch wide back tire, thats better than a 600. Regardless, a chopper would be a better race than a 600. The 600 would have killer top end and really long gears to pwn him. No offense OP.
Beating a harley is kinda like beating a 64 drop top Cadillac with a 8 liter V-8. They are fast, if you give them enough room to speed up haha.
600cc 4 cylinders are not very streetable motors. V twins are amazing for street riding. 600 and 1000cc 4s are great for the track.
