I don't see a thing wrong with that piston. Nothing some job weld wouldn't fix.
You got your miles out of that motor!
Hope the snail gives you want you want.

Bolded the problem.

Also, did you hone your block before dropping those pistons in?

Add a new tune to your rebuild. Im sure when you mentioned this to james he said it was your fault but hey his tune didnt melt a hole in your piston. Ldk is supposed to be sturdy, tuned LNF last longer than 43k

Nah thats not the problem lol. Im not an RPT nutswinger, but i beat the **** out of this car for those 40k miles. alot of track racing, drag racing, an air strip event, tx2k. and it was my daily that i drove out of town ALOT.

i'd say it held up fine for how much i did with the car.

This was an LNF Block with LDK pistons and rods. LDK pistons are weaker than LNF pistons.

this STOCK motor seen alot of agressive driving. The difference between a "longer Lasting" tuned lnf probably was ***** footing around and didnt drive the car nearly as hard as i did.

28psi spike holds 26-27 on a KO4+, ran e47 at 24* for a year, WOT multiple times everyday. Went through a set of Continential DWS tires in less than 10k miles. It's a lot more aggressive than an KO4 can be.

I've driven a rakes tuned car, I'm not surprised to see a piston with ringland damage. I'd almost put money you had knock to blow a ringland like that, which on e47 is a tuning issue.

sounds like alot of spinning. my car was alway's on a slick dead hooking. thats alot more load strain on the engine than spinning.

It's a lot of aggressive mountain driving, wears tires way faster.

Thats more load on transmission not engine, stop sugar coating, accept the fact. Rakes tune did your car in, and excuse you about ET but i have a safe tune and my car runs, it looks like your car is going nowhere fast! Congrats.

My old cobalt lasted 100k+ beating the **** out of it with an EFR turbo on ethanol, and still runs to this day.

Your problem was tune related, not ldk piston related. That hole in the piston is due to knock. But hey, keep telling yourself that your tune wasn't the problem.

im not sugar coating anything lol. There are level's to this ****. Ive been around the ecotec world since late 2005. The tune that i was on when the ringland failed had no knock at all. the dyno graph was nice and smooth all throughout with no detonation in sight.

I call bullshit, I run 22° on the R at 26psi safely on E47, i dont see you being able to do pull after pull at 24° without knocking like crazy, sorry but not sorry, accept that it was the tune. And idc how long youve been around ecotecs, there are plenty of techs out there that have been around cars for years and are still low grade techs just because they csnt fully grasp the concept.

nah tune was not nocking one bit

Knock is not nearly the Ringland fail when the ring gap is to tight for the amount of cylinder pressure, and heat in the cylinder. The Piston ring expands so much that the ring end gap completely closes, causing stress on that ringland to either crack it, or completely break off the top of the piston.

Stock pistons and stock Ring end gap is the cause of ALOT of lnf and LDK ringland failure.

Ive Built 4 LNF bottom ends for guys along the gulf coast in the pass two years, its the same case everytime. one guy was only on a GMSTG1 tune and had ringland failure after 10k miles on the tune.

Knowledge comes with experience.

Its funny how everyone and there mom will chime in with these exagerated mystery Stock motors lasting 100k+ miles. Be for real, probably drive it like a paw paw.

Just like when i post my 1/4 times . i get the "i did that on street tires" reply's.
