LDK swap in my SAAB 9-3
Hi guys,
Just made a engine swap in my SAAB 9-3 (B207/LSJ --> A20/LDK), used a cylinder head from old engine. Found out after I installed the engine and tried to fire it up that the reclutor wheel is clocked dirrerent in LSJ/LDK. Guess what - It doesent start :r:. So, Im thinking doing the change in ECU instead of replacing the reluctor wheel. Anyone of you having some info about degrees to TDC and so on? Best regards, Axel from Sweden. |
Is there a saab that used this engine? I dont think a gm ecu would integrate very well with saab controllers.
|
i highly doubt anything will intigrate, i remember looking at a saab ecu and it looks totally different than a gm.
|
I will use the SAAB ecu but change timing in the program.. Therefore I need some info about the LDK reductor wheel. :)
|
I know the B207/LSJ swap has been done, and the LSJ/"Gen 3" block has been done, so you should be able to piece together the B207 to LDK using those steps.

Sent him a messenge, seems a while since he was active.
Thanks :-) And youre right.. I dont wanna remove the engine again. ;-) |
True, but the info from those swaps could lead to what you're looking for

Maybe the hptuners forum has some data.
Are there any data about clocking relating LE5/L61/LSJ/LNF/LDK/B207? If you can relate B207->x->...->LDK then you'll have what you need. That's what I was trying to say just not saying well. I know they just swap cranks for the block swaps, but there are crank swaps out there. Someone's probably done something similar before, and you can link relations together to get what you need. |

Hi Axl,
What ecu are you running in the saab and can you change the timing reference angle in that? (I assume Saab Trionic suite 7 or 8?) You can simply measure the angle through the crank sensor hole and compare that to the LSJ/B207 engine. (and mpount a degree wheel onto the pulley) Or you can always mount an external triggerwheel to the A20... (ps; brand new B207 engines are pretty cheap to get in Europe!! ;-) ) |

Also got a pic on a B207 and LDK reluctor wheel and it seems like it 36 degrees difference. Now I shall only translate that to the ECU that doesnt measure it in degrees. |

Don't know the LDK sync, but the LSJ sync pulse is 116 or 120degrees before TDC (depending what edge you take as reference), but to compare both engines its easier to simply count the trigger tooth through the sensor hole from TDC, as every tooth is 6 degrees. ;) (I had thought of going Trionic 8 + ecu in my LSJ/B207 Opel Speedster, but T8 was just starting back then. Going LSJ ecu + HPTuners was easier at the time.) |
