One thing. Won't once the gt42 gets flowing the gt28 become a hinderence since thats like a 3 inch compressor outlet and the 28 is like a 2 inch or so. I have been thinking about this for awhile now.

yeah, the 3" piping will taper off to 2.25"

the small turbo will not be a hindrance.

that's always one the first questions of most people about the compound set-up.

i think we discussed about this during the first few pages of this thread already.

The small turbo is being forced-fed with already compressed air from big turbo

Hey Sky, you mind if I ask an off topic question?

You mind sharing the specs of those bolts you used for the VC? I need to replace mine and Im having trouble finding the correct spec and I dont want to pay the dealer 5 bucks a bolt

You can PM me if you'd like.

When setting up a turbo or turbos, whatever size is enough, will always be enough, unless you change the VE of the motor. As you add a second stage, you are just turbocharging the system that was already there. In other words, if the GT28 works well on the 2.0, then adding another turbo system on the outside of the system that is already there won't change that. Your example would be like asking if you need to replace your throttle body with a larger one when adding a turbo. Of course the answer is no, because the air flowing through the throttle body will be compressed and therefore it's flow potential is increased.

Try to think of compound turbocharging as taking an engine that is already turbocharged and then simply turbocharging what was already there. The larger turbo is completely on the outside of the system that was already in place for this reason. That's why you don't need to change what is already there.

One thing I would worry about is to make sure the MAF is in a big piece of pipe because if it sees much over 11500 hz the ECM tends to get pissed and it responds by slamming the throttle shut.

It does? Is that a Kappa specific issue? We have never had that problem on LNF Cobalts.

If you ventured more into the Kappa world you would know this, lol. You guys set records with FWD Cobalts, right? Imagine the times a Kappa(RWD LNF) could do! I'm seriously surprised you guys haven't bothered with much besides downpipes and other things.
