So, after a small amount of searching, I have yet to come up with anyone who has regapped their stock rings in an effort to make power.
yes, it's easy to throw in a set of diamonds or weiscos and call it a day.
but, in my situation, money is better spent towards the planning and buildup of my rwd ecotec based track vehicle.

the car:
06 LE5 5speed 113K miles
stock shortblock
ported head, valve springs, head studs
2.6" TVS
24gph 50/50(by volume) methanol; post TB, pre blower
all cooling mods
Norris motorsports catchcan vented to atmo
badman shorty, 3" downpipe, stock catback
3" intake ls4 throttle body

the car is daily driven, 60-75 miles a day for work

mainly just looking for that one guy like me that said f it, let's do it; pros, cons, knowledgeable input, as well as newer conversation other than "how do I make my basemodel fast or how do I turbo my car, ect. ect.

You want to open them up to handle boost? Or try to minimize the gap to increase power? I'm not really following the logic here.

An LE5, being N/A factory, will already have gaps that are "too tight" for a high boost TVS setup. I'd suggest opening them up slightly to what you would find on an aftermarket piston ring set, but OEM rings are thin and ringlands on the stock pistons are the weak spot. I doubt you're gonna find anyone who has actually done it, i'd ask Mr. Belevedere on here, if anyone has, it was probably him.

the lower end has been fantastic so far. been boosted since 35K miles or so.
but yes; open up the gap on the 2 compression rings.
guys with 4.8/5.3L LS engines to kep the stock guts together.

I figured Mr b or trevor or perhaps 100%meth or powell might chime in.
