Build thread for my mom wagon

So originally purchased this for my wife and traded in her lowered scion tC so she would have something to get back and forth to work in with the snow we see in south eastern CT. We had a daughter and this was much more practical.
I built a lifted 5.3 V8 2012 fully loaded Z71 Colorado, lifted it, full engine bolt ons, hated it, and traded it in for a Equinox LTZ for her with all the bells and whistles like she originally wanted. I took the terrain for my ride. Truck pictured later on in thread. Attachment 10531 When I purchased the Equinox I was able to score some take off Camaro wheels with brand new tires that were sitting on top of a paint booth at the dealership for years for $500, so I couldnt pass that up. Nabbed those and slapped them on the terrain as soon as I got home Attachment 10532 Attachment 10533 sat content for a while, then was able to find a cargo cover brand new for $40 on craigslist. Another good deal. Also at the same time installed a k&n air filter ( not pictured ) Attachment 10534 then a member on the terrain forum hinted he was interested in selling one of the unicorn lowering sets with new equinox sport shocks and new rear alignment cam nuts so i scooped that up as well. Tinted the windows all 5% that day as well Attachment 10535 Attachment 10536 Attachment 10537 Attachment 10538 Attachment 10539 Attachment 10540 Spring finally arrived late to CT and i was able to clean the car up to my liking and get the paint dialed in nicely. Also debadged the whole exterior. Attachment 10541 Attachment 10542 Attachment 10543 Attachment 10544 Installed some 5k HIDS from xenondepot (bad picture) Attachment 10545 and most recently installed footwell lights, which i then converted to LED along with the rest of the interior ( dont mind the messy interior ) Attachment 10546 Attachment 10547 Attachment 10548 Thats enough for this year. Next year ill probably do a 12" subwoofer sunk into the floor in the rear where the spare tire is, make a false floor that can be installed quickly and easily for if i need it for whatever. Also a shark fin antenna and that will probably be all so then I can start putting together the plans for a 2JZ GTE IS300 with a T56 and 6266 turbo My last three builds for the heck of it. Attachment 10549 2007 Water/meth TVS Supercharged full bolt on, full suspension, lots of one off carbon Cobalt SS Supercharged 2012 Colorado Z71 2LT leather, 4 inch rancho lift, pro comp wheels, 33s, full bolt ons for motor, blacked out exterior minus handles, retros 2014 SLE1 Terrain AWD 2.4 |
You do a great job of tastefully modding whatever you own at the time. What did you hate about the Colorado? I'd love to have that thing the way you did it.

Nice, but the Terrain needs a TVS

Thank you! That means alot I appreciate it. The colorado was a dog. I think the lift and big tires and the 4.10 gears made it feel slow. If I did it again I would have turned the torsion bars down a little bit and lowered the rear even though it was 4x4 and put some 22s on it. Ive lowered everything I own, and I tried a lift, it was fun when we would have like 2 feet of snow but that happened maybe 5-6 times in 3 years so not really worth it for just that. Was a pain lifting my daughter into it, wife hated getting into it, I wear a suit to work every day, kinda sketchy on the ice in the winter getting in or out. Sounded nice, looked how i wanted it, was comfy, but the lift just killed it for me.

Nice looking! Sorry to hear all the effort was for not on the Colorado. You were stoked to get that.

how did you like the colorado before you started modding it? im starting to think of moving on to a new daily driver and id like a small truck, and im looking at the colorados. would either be a newer v6, or if i could find an older 5.3l truck, just anything to stay away from the atlas motors.

The terrain looks really good with those wheels.

Looking good. Big tires on that truck. I got a truck myself and the most I did was Level is with some stock tires. Love the truck. Trading it in soon though for my wife's malibu. But yeah. Loving the equinox and especially the sle1

were 33s on the truck. came factory with 31s which i forgot the brand but were beasts in the snow. never ever needed 4x4 even in blizzards. The 33s were not as agressive and i needed 4x4 engaged, but with it engaged they were pretty good. Quiet on roads too which was nice. The 4" subframe lift was heavy. i dont remember weight but it had to come on a pallet.
Thanks alot! |

Direct injection is like a diesel, just keep turning up pressure - within reason

can you run a supercharger on a terrain? A friend has on just like this but silver, and he wanted to buy a supercharger kit i had for it but we noticed it was direct injection. Maybe turbo setup?
|
the general answer is sure, you can supercharge anything. now if your talking about a 2.4l direct injected and using an lsj blower setup, i would think the answer is not easily. im sure the direct injected 2.4l uses the same head as an lnf, and the intake manifold bolt pattern is different from the non direct injected engines. an adapter could be made but im not sure how much room you would have for the fuel lines and injectors. i dont think anyone has even looked at the feasability of the lsj blower in depth for one of these engines.

Installed a system in the mom wagon a few weeks ago. Loud as hell. Trunk looks stock as its in a custom box under the floor. 13.5" JLW3v3 JL500 watt amp. Going to amp mids and highs and do aftermarket door speakers this summer.
