The Amazon welder arrived last week so I finished the welding. I realized I forgot a couple of other things so it took a little time. Everything I ordered arrived on Saturday afternoon so I only had that evening to work. The lighting sucked but I managed. The welder was sufficient for what I needed it to do, just dirty being FCAW rather than gas. It rained later, and I need daylight for paint so primer will be next weekend and paint the following weekend (I don't work on it on Sundays).

I've never been accused of being patient. Primer was applied last night.

Can't tell exactly but it looks a bit uneven if a few areas. I would spray on a guide layer of paint and sand it down, but your call.

It looks like that because it was still wet. I saw a spot I need to touch up this morning, otherwise it looks good. If I see some drips I'll sand them off. Also the shadows are bad from multiple lights.

Yeah I knew it looked off but that's why I was suggestive more than anything else. Still, it's nice to see some people continue with their project

i want to get paint done, then floors and brake and fuel lines so that I can put it back on the roller skate. After that the progress will feel better because I don't have to disassemble again.

Yeah man.
So umm... When it's done, are selling tickets for people to drive it? You know, in case some people may be interested

As promised, a picture of my 5ft paint job:

1.75 qts of single stage "bright green," plus one rattle can for hard to reach areas. Only 35psi to limit overspray cuz I'm cheap.

Sorry, just noticed this. Plan is to leave the bottoms as-is, tops are undecided. Leaning towards bed liner.

Wow, been a while. I've been doing occasional little stuff. I'm determined to get the frame back down on the chassis this weekend. I've attached the brake line and hard fuel line to the tunnel, and fit the gas tank to the back at the angle I want. I need to do a fit check with the rear body work but the piece is buried so I need to dig it out. I just need to attach the EVAP vent tube to the tunnel and I'm good to go. I'll enlist the help of some neighbors and get it done on friday or saturday night.

Here's how it looks as of last night. Finished all of the hard lines (brakes, fuel, and clutch). Next I'll fit my electrical box. Then I'll drop the frame onto the rollerskate, then tackle the exhaust. That'll be fun.

This thing's going to be a blast. When you finally get it all wrapped up do you plan on doing some track days, maybe a few autocross events?

Yeah, it's more of an autocrosser but I will try and take it to an HPDE event or two occasionally. Definitely not going to try to do any road racing competitions. I'm spitballing a Cd>1 lol. But mostly just blast it up the canyons

Did some more work yesterday. I had the goal of putting in the electrical box, but this happened:

If you look carefully, you'll see the end of the rivnut mandrel stuck in the rivnut. Don't he-man a 10-24 rivnut. Here's how it broke:

I was able to spin it out of the rivnut, but unfortunately it spun into the tube. I was too lazy to go get a left hand drill bit and the normal bit just spun it in. Hopefully it doesn't rattle. I moved on to mounting the seat sliders for the driver's seat:

Eagle eyes will notice the sliders are not perpendicular to the mounting tubes. This was done on purpose. The side clearance for the seat shifts a little outboard as you move the seat forward due to the trans tunnel. My fat seat requires the diagonal motion. This kit was not built for fatso's like me, but still better than the shoulder rubbing I've seen in the goblin videos I think. My replacement mandrel arrived today so I'll put the electrical box in tomorrow night.
