Thanks guys!

Took the car up to Tire Kingdom today for an alignment. When I got there they told me they are swamped it could be hours before getting to mine blah blah blah. I say that is ok, it will likely take them a bit to do the alignment anyways since it is all custom (it isn't but ya gotta BS them a little). Well it worked like a charm. Went from hour and hours to straight in on the rack and done.

They loved it. "We've never seen one of these cars done up like this! You weren't kidding everything is modified!". Then they knocked 20 bucks off the alignment to boot! Then I came home and replaced the door speakers, put a new to me passenger door panel on to replace the tore up one, and did replaced the drivers window motor. It has been a long weekend! Getting the car ready for Auto Combine on April 2nd.

So 5 days after the turd got new shoes she decided to **** the bed. I was coming home from work, as I was getting into a turn lane she shuddered, my tach freaked out like I had a massive RPM spike and then it started hammering hard.

I assumed it jumped time. That would explain the tach spike and the god awful noise it was making. So I tore it down. And well lets just say this engine was destine to grenade. Started with pulling the heads off the engine. No sign of damage... Well WTF? So pull the oil pan off and pull the main girdle, #5 rod bearing is all but spun. Well now might as well tear it down the rest of the way because gotta get the crank and rods checked.

Pull the pistons out. And I'll be damned if a ring land didn't disintegrate as it came out of the cylinder. Like zero sign of wear on the cylinder walls but that ring land was busted good. Looked completely fine from up top and underneath but when it came out it fell apart.... So at this point I decided I'm parting this engine out and going a different route.

As I was stripping the heads and cleaning them up (big money heads, will fetch me a nice price) I pull the cam gears off and **** me running the snout on the drivers cam is sheared off! This ******* thing had 3 failures in completely different areas! I don't know which was the one that took it out finally.

So long story short, the turd will be down until further notice. I have another engine in mind. I'll post updates and pictures as it happens. Until then enjoy pictures of my carnage!

wow sorry to hear about all the carnage, seems like this engine is cursed. just curious, was all that damage on #5 or was the bad rod bearing and broken piston 2 different holes? to me it looks like detonation, that rod bearing looks like it was pounded flat first, then the oil pressure drops and you end up with metal on metal.

Yeah it was. That is exactly what I think it was too. the day before I went to pass a car and it went way lean for a couple seconds before I realized it and let up. I'm guessing the damage was done then.

Oh it'll be down a while. Likely a year or 3. I have some other stuff to take care of before I can start on it again and when I do I'll be starting fresh. The whole drivetrain is getting changed out. Gonna start with the rear subframe and diff so it will hold the retardedness that will be going in to it

It'll be worth the wait. I promise.

im fine as long as its not an ls (or a small block). im so sick of seeing people cramming ls engines into everything just cause its easy to make power.

that package is only about an hour from me lol.

that would be cool. im not much of an rb fan though, however an awd z31 would be so cool. im sure skyline front spindles and struts could be adapted, may need custom axle shafts in the front. would likely also have to swap the rear diff as well so you have matching ratios.

I mean they want the power so why not go with a proven engine? I agree the LS1 and LS2 swaps get old, I like to see the LSx swaps though

I'd be better off doing a VG30DETT from a twin turbo 300ZX. RB's are nice but they have a lot of issues and getting parts in the states is no fun.

in my eyes, yea. i mean, anyone can cram a smallblock in anything.

my view is to keep it in the same make with pretty much anything, at least as far as v8 swaps. be cool to see a nissan v8 in it. pretty much anything v6 or straight 6 would be cool as well.

I'm not going after cool. If I was I wouldn't be working with this chassis to begin with. I just want it to go fast and be somewhat reliable. Something this engine has failed miserably at.

So I've decided on my next swap. You guys will likely approve. Starting small for now keeping it basically stock engine with a turbo 400-450whp. I'm doing it mainly to **** off all the Nissan guys

In the future I'll likely go with a ZZP girdled 2.1 with the 6262 and get crazy with it. I need to figure out the transmission solution. Looking like it is either between the Colorado/Canyon AR5 and the Solstice/Sky AR5.
