4-Piece Harness + Aftermarket Seats

What is everybody's opinion on a aftermarket seat and/or a 4-piece harness? is it cool, legal, or just not worth it (I mean come on you gotta feel pretty sweet with it)

I think the fact you posted this in the Appearance section says a lot.

Are they actually needed for some people out there? Yes, because they are driving their car on a track in conditions where they are needed.

Everyone else? No.

Why would they be illegal to wear? Are they not seat belts? I knew a guy that had an 11 second 68 camaro that was his daily driver. Had an 8 point cage and 4 point harness' in it and he never got a ticket for it other than getting a lil heavy on the gas from.time.to time.

4 points allow submarining when in a car accident or fast acceleration ;)

get a CG Lock or 6 point ;)

A stock 3 point has an amount of give in it, in the event of an accident. More of your body is going to be free to move, spreading out the force. If you're in a 4+ point, you aren't moving. Except maybe your neck and head.

If you roll the car with a 3 point, that movement allows your head and torso to move out of the way of the crumpling roof. If you are in a 4+, again, you aren't moving when the roof collapses. This is why it's fine to run a 4+ with a roll cage, since that prevents the roof from collapsing. You still need to wear a helmet with a cage, so don't think just running a cage and 4+ on the street fixes everything, because it doesn't.
