With pictures and help how ahrd is it since suede is a bitch!

 

mine are purple suede.
it tends to not want to lie flat and u have to really pull the material and flatten it out real well or u will get bubbles .

 

so is it pretty hard????

i want suede just i dont wanna pay $250 a door panel to get it pro installed!!!!

 

if uve never worked with it before , you might want to practice with it first before wasting yards of suede. its not cheap material.
any material if not laid correctly or using the wrong epoxy/ glue, or uneven spraying will give you bumps but we found the headliner to be more of a bitch then the doors because we were working with such a large piece of fabric. depending on which part of the door you want to do will provide the challenge. we sanded everything out first and did the entire top of the door panel.

 

could you tell me what type of epoxy you used then so i can get the good stuff!!!!

i know i can do just gotta take my time i wanna do the top of the door panel too like you did but do you need to sand?????

and like is it really easy to get glue through suede?? i heard it was!!!

alrighty im doign it tonight!!!!! black ss/sc with navy blue suede on the inside!!!!

 

yeah go to advance auto parts and get the permatex spray glue, its like $8, then go to lowes or walmart and get the plastic epoxy, it comes in a syringe. its not that hard to do, the second door panel took me like 30 mins. but then i had to let things dry.

 

im pretty sure the spray glue is what we used. ken also uses it on sub boxes etc. and it goes on pretty even

 

but this is suede i dont think i can use liquid glue only spray

 

use spray glue, its easier to get it into the cracks and corners, plus i think it dries quicker

 

so you have ot let it dry before you put on fabric? or with the fabric

 

its almost like a rubber cement...ever use that stuff back in the day...its kind of sticky right from the getgo and you really have to be sure to lay the fabric even and flat or you will have to pull it back up and do it again. it can be a bitch but i think you will be fine. take your time. ive watched kenny work with burberry fabric, suede, carpeting etc. its all done the same way pretty much.

How hard was it to mold that?

yes we are going to have them available in 4 weeks.
we sent out the prototype to have the molds made.
kenny hand designed and made it. not sure how much of a PITA it was though.
but yeah 4 weeks and we will be adding it to the site.

t me man ive been slaving here for over 8 hours cut myself 3 times and got a blood blister it sucks hot glue hurts!!!! hahaha

lol. that sucks! I love late night projects. We spent 9 hours working on my dual guage bezel. It was worth every second though.

 

glad to see you dove right in. yeah blood sweat and tears are all worth is in the long run once you are all finished.
told ya it wouldnt be too easy...thats a tough fabric to work with...but its one of the nicest in my opinion when its all done.
